What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
In Search Console, open Performance → Search results, then use either the Countries tab (to see every country side by side in the table) or a Country filter (to isolate one country, or compare two). The right choice depends on your question, and the export and data limits below affect how far you can take the analysis.
Which method should you use?
| Your goal | Use | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| See which countries send the most clicks and impressions | Countries tab | Table grouped by country, with clicks, impressions, CTR and average position for each |
| Analyze one country only (chart and every other tab) | Country filter | The whole report limited to that country |
| Compare two countries for the same query, page or other filter | Country filter with Compare | Two country columns of data shown side by side |
| Isolate a country and a device (or other dimension) | Country filter plus another filter | Data matching all filters at once |
The “country” here is the country where the search originated, not where your site is hosted or where your business is based.
Set up the report first
- Select the correct Search Console property.
- Open Performance and choose Search results.
- Set the date range and, if needed, the search type (the default is web search). The report opens on the past three months by default.
- Make sure the metrics you need are toggled on above the chart: total clicks, total impressions, average CTR, average position. CTR is clicks divided by impressions.
See performance grouped by country
- Under the chart, select the Countries tab.
- The table now lists one row per country, with the metrics you enabled.
- Click a metric column header to sort, for example by clicks to rank your top markets, or by impressions to find countries where you are shown often but get few clicks.
This does not filter anything. The chart still shows all countries together; only the table is grouped.
Filter the report to a single country
- Above the chart, add a filter with + New (or use the filter bar) and choose Country.
- Select the country from the list. Only countries for which your property has data appear as choices.
- Select Apply.
The chart and all the tabs (Queries, Pages, Devices, Search appearance and so on) now reflect only that country. This is the way to answer questions such as “what queries bring Canadian users to this site?” Switch to the Queries or Pages tab after applying the filter.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A shortcut: if you are already in the Countries tab, clicking a country row applies it as a filter.
Compare two countries
- Add a Country filter from the filter bar.
- Select the Compare option instead of the default filter.
- Choose the two countries and select Apply.
Google documents this flow for comparing how a query performs in two countries: add a Query filter first, then a Country filter in Compare mode. The same pattern works with a page filter, which is useful for checking whether a page ranks differently in the UK and the US, for instance.

Combine country with other filters
Filters stack, and a row must satisfy all of them. Google’s own example is the equivalent of country = 'USA' AND device = 'Mobile': add a Country filter for the United States, then add a Device filter for Mobile.
- Add a filter: use the filter bar and pick the dimension (Query, Page, Country, Device, Search appearance, Date).
- Remove a filter: select the X on its chip.
- Edit a filter: select the chip to reopen it and change the value.
Narrow filters shrink the sample quickly. If a country-plus-query-plus-device combination shows only a handful of impressions, treat CTR and position for it as noisy.

Read the numbers correctly
- Average position reflects the topmost position your site held in each result, so it behaves differently from a rank-tracker figure.
- Chart and table totals can differ. Aggregation depends on the dimension you are grouped by, so don’t expect the country rows to reconcile perfectly with the chart total.
- The latest data is preliminary. Recent points can change over the next few hours; Google marks preliminary data on the chart. Avoid drawing conclusions from the last day or so.
Export country data
Use Export at the top right of the report. It downloads what you currently see, with the active filters and tab, as Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel or CSV. Limits to know:
- An export contains at most 1,000 representative rows, according to Google’s Search Console Help. Report totals include rows that were truncated, so on a large site the exported rows may not add up to the totals on screen.
- Values shown as unavailable or not-a-number in the report are exported as zero.
The Countries tab is short for most sites, so a country-level export is rarely truncated. The limit matters when you filter to one country and then export the Queries or Pages tab.

When the report isn’t enough: the Search Console API
The Search Console API lets you filter and sort performance data programmatically, including by country, and pull more detail than the interface exports. It is not a SQL interface. Google documents a limit of 50,000 rows per day per search type per property. Use it when you need to run recurring country-by-query or country-by-page extracts or feed the data into another tool; the data itself still follows Search Console’s behavior, such as preliminary recent days.

Troubleshooting
- A country is missing from the list: the property has no data for it in the selected date range. Widen the range or check the search type.
- Numbers change after applying a country filter and switching tabs: expected; every tab inherits the filter.
- Exported totals don’t match the screen: the 1,000-row cap and truncated rows, described above.
- Compare is not offered: choose Compare inside the Country filter dialog rather than the standard filter option.
