There is no need to choose just one: Amazon’s October 2026 Prime PC offers include games redeemed through Epic Games Store, while Epic also gives away a separate rotating weekly game. The better claim is the one you actually want to play, can redeem before its deadline, and are comfortable keeping in the account or app where it lands. These are promotion mechanics, not evidence that one service consistently offers better games.
What is the difference between Prime Gaming and Epic’s free games?
Amazon’s current gaming branding is Luna, though many players still know its PC giveaways as Prime Gaming. Amazon’s October 2026 announcement describes ten newly added PC games that Prime members can claim during the month. They are downloadable PC offers, delivered through different storefronts or services.
Epic Games Store runs its own rotating giveaway. Epic says its free game changes every Thursday at 8 a.m. Pacific Time and stays claimable for seven days. After you successfully claim it, the game remains in your Epic library. A missed promotion is not added to your library; you would have to catch the game if Epic offers it again. Epic’s free-games support page explains the process.
Do not confuse these PC claims with Luna’s cloud-play catalogue. Amazon’s October update describes more than 80 games available through Luna Standard for streaming; that is a catalogue description for October 2026, not a guaranteed permanent count. Streaming access and downloadable PC game ownership are different offers. Amazon’s Luna explainer, updated September 29, 2026, says rotating PC games continue for Prime members everywhere, while Luna cloud-delivered games are available in 14 listed countries.

Which Amazon PC games can Prime members claim in October 2026?
Amazon Game Studios’ October 6, 2026 update lists these ten PC games and their planned claim dates and redemption routes. The announcement does not give each offer’s exact expiration time, so check the live Luna claim page for the current deadline and regional availability.
| Game | Claim date listed by Amazon | Redemption route |
|---|---|---|
| Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit | October 1, 2026 | Epic Games Store |
| DOOM | October 1, 2026 | GOG code |
| Conarium | October 8, 2026 | GOG code |
| WarBreeds | October 8, 2026 | GOG code |
| Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong | October 15, 2026 | Epic Games Store |
| Caravan SandWitch | October 15, 2026 | Amazon Games App |
| Ad Infinitum | October 22, 2026 | Epic Games Store |
| Time Travel: Escape Room Game | October 22, 2026 | Legacy Games code |
| Trash Goblin | October 29, 2026 | Epic Games Store |
| Kiborg | October 29, 2026 | Amazon Games App |
Because some Prime offers are redeemed on Epic, checking both services can reveal an offer for the same storefront. That does not make the services interchangeable: Amazon’s Prime offer is the promotion, while Epic is the account and library where certain claims are redeemed.

How to decide whether a free PC game is worth claiming
“Free” removes the purchase price, but it does not make every offer equally useful. A quick check of fit, time, account requirements, and delivery route will tell you whether a claim is worth the effort.
- Game fit: Claim games in genres you enjoy or titles you expect to try. A game left unplayed has little practical value.
- Deadline: Epic’s stated window is seven days from the weekly change. Amazon lists October dates, but the exact expiration time is not in the monthly announcement; verify it on the live claim page.
- Account setup: Epic requires an account with two-factor authentication enabled to claim its free games. Amazon offers can involve a separate storefront account, a code, or the Amazon Games app.
- Library location: Note whether the game is in Epic, GOG, Amazon Games, or Legacy Games. You may need the relevant account or app to install and play it.
- Download or stream: A PC claim is distinct from a Luna cloud game, which is streamed and has its own geographic availability.
- Membership: Amazon’s PC offers are for Prime members. Epic’s weekly giveaway is a separate Epic promotion and does not depend on Prime.
How to claim a free game without missing the important detail
For Epic’s weekly free game
- Open the Epic Games Store free-games page and check which offer is currently active.
- Sign in to your Epic account, with two-factor authentication enabled as Epic requires.
- Select the game and complete the claim before the seven-day window closes. Once the claim succeeds, it stays in your Epic library.
For Amazon’s Prime PC offers
- Open the Luna claim page and confirm that the offer is currently available to you; use the live listing for its deadline and regional status.
- Choose the Prime PC offer and follow its listed redemption route: Epic Games Store, GOG code, Amazon Games App, or Legacy Games code.
- Complete any required storefront sign-in or code redemption, then check the indicated account or app to confirm the game is in the expected library.
Amazon’s claiming guide documents the storefront and app mechanics, although it uses the older Prime Gaming name.

So, which service should you check first?
Check both if you want the broadest chance of finding a game you will play: Epic has a weekly offer, and Prime adds monthly PC offers, some redeemed on Epic. If you are not a Prime member, Epic’s weekly promotion is the relevant one of the two; if you are a Prime member, include Amazon’s listed offer and verify its route and deadline. No official source establishes a consistent quality or savings winner, so judge each game on its own rather than choosing a platform by reputation.
