Amazon Prime’s gaming benefits are now presented under Luna: Prime members can claim monthly downloadable PC games and also stream games from Luna Standard’s changing catalog. The right choice depends on whether you want a subscription library or a bundle of gaming extras alongside Prime’s other benefits.
How Amazon Prime gaming and PC Game Pass differ
These services do not offer the same kind of access. Prime combines monthly PC game claims with cloud gaming through Luna Standard. PC Game Pass is a subscription catalog: you download supported games on Windows and play them while your membership is active and the titles remain in the catalog.
| What you get | Amazon Prime gaming through Luna | PC Game Pass |
|---|---|---|
| PC game access | Monthly downloadable PC games to claim and add to your collection; check each game’s platform and redemption terms. Amazon’s October 2026 update lists 10 newly added games for that month, not a monthly guarantee. | A rotating PC catalog; Microsoft lists 300+ PC games. Catalog size and availability can change by time and region. |
| Cloud gaming | Luna Standard cloud streaming is included with Prime, with a 60+ game catalog in Amazon’s overview updated September 21, 2026. The catalog changes. Check Amazon’s current Luna details. | Not the core offer being compared here: PC Game Pass provides access to PC downloads through the Xbox app. |
| Access after membership ends | Claimed games are added to a collection; terms depend on the title and redemption platform. Luna streaming games remain tied to the changing service catalog. | Catalog access ends when the subscription is canceled or expires, or when a game leaves the catalog. Microsoft explains catalog access. |
| New releases | The cited Amazon pages do not establish a general day-one PC release promise. | Day-one games are an explicit benefit. Microsoft’s US listing also includes EA Play. |
| Price | Prime pricing depends on country; no matching local price can be given without your market. | Microsoft’s US listing is $13.99 per month, as of October 7, 2026. Prices may vary by country and change. |
What Amazon Prime Gaming means now
Amazon retired the Prime Gaming brand and unified its gaming benefits under Luna. Prime members continue to receive monthly downloadable PC games to claim, while Luna Standard offers a separate cloud-streaming catalog. The distinction matters: a game you claim is not the same as a game you can stream only while it is in Luna’s current lineup.
Monthly PC game claims
Amazon Game Studios’ October 2026 update says that month’s Free Games with Prime lineup included 10 newly added PC games to claim and add to a collection. That is a statement about October’s lineup, not a promise that every month will include 10 games. Check the current lineup and the redemption terms for each game before claiming.

Luna cloud streaming
Amazon describes Luna as streaming games from AWS servers to supported screens. Its overview, updated September 21, 2026, says Luna Standard is included with Prime and has a 60+ game cloud catalog. Streaming availability is different from owning or downloading a claimed PC game, and the Luna selection can change. Verify supported countries, devices, controllers, and the live catalog if cloud play is your main reason to choose Prime. The Amazon Luna Controller is an optional accessory designed for Luna cloud gaming; it is not required for PC Game Pass or every Luna game.
What PC Game Pass includes
Microsoft describes PC Game Pass as a Windows PC subscription with 300+ games, day-one titles, and EA Play. The library rotates, so a title being included today does not mean it will remain available indefinitely. Microsoft says availability and features vary by time, region, plan, and platform.

- You prefer claiming individual PC games, subject to each title’s redemption terms.
- You want to try cloud gaming on supported devices, and the current Luna selection suits you.
Prime is not a one-for-one substitute for Game Pass’s PC subscription catalog. Its value depends on your local Prime price and whether you use Prime’s non-gaming benefits as well.
