1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor security teams looking beyond Anthropic’s Cyber Verification Program (CVP), the closest alternative for gated access to advanced cybersecurity capabilities is OpenAI Daybreak. For repository scanning and patch suggestions, compare OpenAI Codex Security with Anthropic’s Claude Security instead: these are workflow products, not access programs. None is established by the available vendor information as a universally best choice or an unrestricted penetration-testing service.
Which alternatives address the same need?
“Anthropic’s program” can mean either access to advanced models for authorized cybersecurity work or a tool that scans code and helps fix findings. Those are different needs, so the options should not be treated as interchangeable.
| Offering | What it is | Best fit described by the vendor | Access or maturity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic Cyber Verification Program (CVP) | A verified, tiered access program for qualifying security professionals | Advanced cybersecurity capabilities with reduced blocking classifiers | Applicants are verified and must show security controls appropriate to their requested tier. Availability varies by platform. |
| OpenAI Daybreak | A cybersecurity initiative spanning models, trusted access, Codex Security workflows and ecosystem partners | Defensive work at standard or approved Blue access; more advanced authorized testing at approved Red access | Blue and Red require additional approval; GPT-5.6-Cyber has a separate additional approval requirement. |
| Anthropic Claude Security | A software tool for code security analysis and remediation | Scanning code, validating findings and proposing targeted patches | Anthropic describes it as generally available; it is distinct from controlled access to Mythos-class capabilities. |
| OpenAI Codex Security | A repository and commit scanning workflow | Finding potential vulnerabilities, attempting sandbox validation and proposing patches for review | Described by OpenAI as a research preview. |
| Project Glasswing | An Anthropic initiative involving controlled partner access | Work on critical infrastructure and foundational software, including vulnerability detection, binary testing, endpoint security and penetration testing | A controlled initiative, not an unrestricted commercial product. |
The practical distinction is straightforward: CVP and Daybreak govern access to advanced capabilities, while Claude Security and Codex Security are described as code-focused workflows. Glasswing is relevant context for Anthropic’s controlled-access approach, not a like-for-like product substitute.
How do CVP and Daybreak control access?
Anthropic CVP
Anthropic’s October 2026 expansion describes three tiers for qualifying security professionals. Applicants are verified and must demonstrate security controls appropriate to the tier they request. CVP is available through Claude Platform, Google Cloud Vertex AI and Microsoft Foundry. Amazon Bedrock access has an additional condition: customers must be eligible for Enterprise Frontier Safeguards. This is not open, universal access, and availability is not identical across platforms.

OpenAI Daybreak
OpenAI’s access guidance describes standard, Blue and Red access. Blue is for approved defensive tasks such as secure code review, vulnerability triage, detection engineering, incident response, malware analysis and patch validation. Red is for advanced authorized work, including penetration testing, red teaming, exploit validation or development, and controlled vulnerability research. Both Blue and Red require additional approval. Access to GPT-5.6-Cyber requires a separate additional model approval.
These labels describe access paths, not permission to test any target. OpenAI says Daybreak is for systems and data a user owns, operates or is explicitly authorized to test. A researcher should establish scope and authorization before using capabilities for testing, even if their account has an approved tier.

What do the code-scanning products actually do?
Claude Security
Anthropic describes Claude Security as reasoning about code to scan for vulnerabilities, validate findings and propose targeted patches. Anthropic distinguishes this software tool from Mythos-class advanced capabilities, which it says have controlled access because of their potential for misuse. Choose this workflow when the immediate task is code review and remediation rather than applying for advanced research access.
Codex Security
OpenAI describes Codex Security as a research preview that analyzes repositories and commits, attempts to validate potential findings in an isolated sandbox, and supplies Codex-generated patches for human review. Sandbox validation can add evidence to a finding, but a proposed patch still needs a reviewer to determine whether it is correct, safe and appropriate for the codebase.

In its June 2026 Daybreak announcement, OpenAI reported that the Codex Security preview had scanned over 30 million commits across more than 30,000 codebases. It separately reported that human reviewers had marked more than 70,000 findings fixed and automated systems had determined over 500,000 findings fixed. These are vendor-reported activity and status counts; they are not independent estimates of detection accuracy, security impact or the number of distinct vulnerabilities.
What do the reported vulnerability numbers establish?
The vendors report different kinds of measures, collected in different settings. They should not be read as a head-to-head leaderboard.

- Anthropic’s Project Glasswing partner figures: Anthropic reported at least 129,000 verified software vulnerabilities found by partners from April through July 2026, including more than 33,000 rated critical or high. Anthropic says these figures use partial partner reports and are a lower bound that may significantly undercount results. Fewer than half of partners disclosed patched numbers, often because fixes were still in progress.
- Anthropic’s open-source scanning figures: Anthropic also reported an additional 5,500 verified software vulnerabilities from its own open-source scanning efforts from April through October 2026. This is a separate vendor-reported total, not a comparable trial against Codex Security.
- OpenAI’s Codex Security preview activity: The commit, codebase and finding-status figures above describe workflow activity and status determinations, not verified-vulnerability totals measured on the same basis as Anthropic’s figures.
- OpenAI’s Aardvark benchmark: In a 2025 announcement later updated to say Aardvark became Codex Security, OpenAI reported identifying 92% of known and synthetically introduced vulnerabilities on “golden” repositories. That is OpenAI’s result in a benchmark setting; it does not establish a 92% detection rate for arbitrary production code.
The reviewed vendor materials do not establish an independent, reproducible comparison of these offerings on the same tasks, codebases and scoring rules. The reported numbers can describe what each vendor says it measured, but they cannot establish which option will perform better for a particular organization.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should a team choose and deploy an option?
- Define the work. For code scanning, finding validation and patch suggestions, evaluate Claude Security or Codex Security. For broader defensive tasks, look at Daybreak’s standard or approved Blue access. For advanced authorized testing or controlled vulnerability research, Daybreak Red or an eligible CVP tier is more relevant than a code-scanning workflow.
- Check eligibility before planning around a capability. Confirm the required verification, tier approval, model approval and platform availability. For CVP through Amazon Bedrock, check Enterprise Frontier Safeguards eligibility specifically.
- Set authorization and scope. Record which systems and data are in scope, who owns or operates them, what testing is permitted, and what is excluded. Daybreak’s stated scope is systems and data owned, operated or explicitly authorized for testing.
- Keep human review in the loop. Triage findings against the code and runtime context, validate severity and exploitability, and review generated changes before merging or deploying them. Treat a tool’s finding, sandbox result or automated “fixed” status as evidence to assess—not a substitute for an accountable reviewer.
- Evaluate on representative work. Use repositories and tasks that reflect your stack, threat model and review process. Define how you will measure useful findings, false positives, validation quality and patch correctness before drawing conclusions; the cited vendor statistics are not a substitute for that evaluation.
Why are these tools gated?
Anthropic states that cybersecurity is inherently dual use: “the same capabilities that enable a security team to find and fix a vulnerability can also help a malicious actor exploit it.” Anthropic says generally available models retain conservative safeguards while advanced access is managed through CVP. This explains why verification, tier controls and authorized scope matter; access to a security capability should not be mistaken for permission to use it against a third party.

Project Glasswing follows a similarly controlled pattern for work focused on critical infrastructure and foundational software. Anthropic describes partner access and activities such as vulnerability detection, binary testing, endpoint security and penetration testing. It is not evidence that the same capabilities are generally available to every customer.
What is the practical decision?
If the need is approved access for defensive or advanced research, compare CVP and Daybreak based on eligibility, platform and the work tier you need. If the need is codebase scanning and remediation, compare Claude Security and Codex Security based on workflow fit, validation evidence, patch review and product availability. Keep Glasswing in view as a controlled initiative rather than a purchasable alternative. The available vendor claims do not support naming one universal winner.
