Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo check the sending method in Google Messages, look at the send icon in the compose bar before sending: it indicates whether the new message will use Wi-Fi or mobile data, SMS, or MMS. For a message that has already been sent, check the method label in the conversation. Google’s RCS status icons can also help distinguish RCS from SMS or MMS.
Check the method before you send
-
Open the conversation and enter your message in the compose bar.
-
Look at the send icon beside the compose field. Google says this icon displays the method the message will use: Wi-Fi or mobile data for RCS, or SMS or MMS. The method shown is for that message; it is clearer than relying on the color of the conversation bubble.
Google Messages may send SMS or MMS when RCS is unavailable. RCS availability depends on your device, carrier, and region, so a conversation may not use RCS even if you have RCS chats enabled. Google’s RCS setup guidance explains the setting and its availability.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
Identify the method on a message you already sent
Look in the conversation for the method label associated with the sent message. Google’s RCS sent, delivered, and read icons are not displayed on SMS or MMS messages. Their presence can therefore identify RCS status; their absence by itself does not establish why a message has not been delivered. See Google’s RCS FAQ for details about message status indicators.
Bubble color is not the most reliable method-specific check. Google’s security guidance describes dark blue bubbles for RCS and light blue for SMS/MMS, but the compose-bar icon and conversation’s method label are more direct indicators of the sending method. Google’s explanation of RCS encryption and message colors provides that color guidance.

Check whether RCS is available
-
In Google Messages, tap your profile icon.
-
Tap Messages settings, then RCS chats.
-
Read the status shown. Google lists Connected, Connecting, Trouble connecting. Awaiting retry, and Not supported as possible statuses. A connecting or unavailable status can explain why RCS is not being used. Availability varies by device, carrier, and region.
Switch an undelivered message to SMS or MMS
If an RCS message is undelivered and you want to try sending it as a text, tap the message’s timestamp and choose Switch to text (SMS/MMS). This changes the delivery method for that message. Google’s message delivery instructions cover this option.
