These controls can influence what Facebook recommends, but they do not switch Reels off everywhere or guarantee that every Reel will disappear.
Tell Facebook you want to see fewer similar Reels
- Find an unwanted recommended Reel in Feed.
- Open its feedback or options menu. The menu location and wording can differ by device, app version, account, and rollout.
- Choose Not interested, or the closest available equivalent. Facebook may also show an Interested option for content you want more of.
Meta says this feedback affects the ranking of similar posts temporarily; it is a way to influence recommendations, not a permanent block. The labels were originally called Show more and Show less, and Meta notes that the names have since changed in its March 11, 2025 update. Facebook’s available controls and menu placement may change.
Adjust Feed preferences or a specific source
Open Facebook’s Feed preferences to manage what appears in Feed more broadly. If the problem is a particular story or source, Facebook also describes options to hide an individual story or see fewer posts from a specific person, Page, or group. These controls target a story or source; they are separate from feedback on a Reel recommendation. The exact options and their location can vary. See Facebook’s Feed preferences and related controls.
Why Reels may still appear
Facebook Reels can appear in Feed, and Facebook also has a separate destination for browsing Reels. Feedback on a Reel in Feed may affect recommendations, but Facebook’s guidance does not promise that one preference removes all Reels from Feed—or hides them throughout Facebook. Don’t confuse viewing recommendations with your Reels audience
Your Reels audience setting controls who can see Reels you publish. It does not control which Reels Facebook recommends to you. Facebook’s audience settings information for Reels concerns the visibility of your own content. General privacy settings that mention Reels are not described as a master control for hiding Reels you see.
