How the ARC Raiders loop works
ARC Raiders sends Raiders to scavenge Topside, where both ARC machines and other players can threaten a run. You are trying to bring valuable loot back by extracting; carrying more opportunity into danger is part of the trade-off, not a guarantee of a successful return. That high-level loop is what a beginner can rely on. The official material cited here does not establish a ranked list of worthwhile items, safest routes, extraction timing, or a loadout that guarantees survival. Learn item functions and extraction requirements from the current game itself rather than treating unverified route or gear advice as universal.
What to do on a beginner run
- Choose your squad context. The game tracks Solo, Duo, and Trio playstyles separately for matchmaking, according to Embark’s July 7, 2026 update. - Scavenge with the objective in mind. Look for loot while accounting for the stated threats: ARC machines and other Raiders. Do not assume an item is worth carrying merely because it is valuable, or that a particular area is safe.
- Decide when to stop pushing. The more you try to bring back, the longer you may remain exposed. The sources do not provide a universal “extract after X minutes” rule, so make the call based on your current situation and what the game communicates.
- Extract, then verify what happened to your gear. The cited official pages do not specify exactly which equipped or carried items are retained or lost after extraction, defeat, or a disconnect. Check the current in-game explanation and inventory outcome rather than relying on a blanket claim about gear loss.
What should you keep, and what can you lose?
Do not assume that every item you find is automatically safe to keep, or that every failed run has the same consequence. The official sources cited for this guide describe scavenging and extraction but do not spell out item-by-item retention rules, what happens to a particular loadout on failure, or whether those rules vary by item type. Read the current in-game descriptions and post-run results before risking equipment you care about.

During the Frozen Trail period, a new player can enter Pendola Pass when teamed with players who have already unlocked the map. The announcement describes this team-access condition; it does not say that a new player unlocks the map simply by joining that squad.
What the October PvE toggle test changes
Embark announced a limited PvE toggle test for October 13–20, 2026. It is a temporary test, not a confirmed permanent mode. In PvE, players cooperate against ARC without player-to-player damage; in classic PvPvE, both ARC and other Raiders remain potential threats. The announced differences are:

The PvE test is intended to offer a different risk profile, not the same rewards in a safer package: Embark says loot value will be lower to account for the relative safety. Embark’s September 24, 2026 post reports that 37% of players were “Friendly co-op,” 27% “Mixed,” and 34% “Pure PvP”; it also says 51% of the surveyed playerbase expressed interest in a dedicated PvE option. Those are developer-reported figures; the post does not provide survey sample size or methodology, so they should not be read as a full account of all players.

One date-sensitive note about Cred
Embark’s September 8, 2026 update said Cred would remain usable until October 8 and that any remaining Cred would expire with the Frozen Trail update as Cred was retired.
