If your iPhone is acting up after an iOS beta, first decide whether you can keep using it while reporting the problem or need to return to public iOS now. Turning beta updates off only stops future beta builds; it does not remove the beta already installed. Apple’s rollback process erases the iPhone, so check for a pre-beta backup before you start.
Start with the least disruptive fix
Apple cautions that beta software can contain errors and may not work as well as commercially released software. That does not prove a particular battery, app, network, or performance issue was caused by the beta. If the phone is usable, note the iOS version and build, what happened, when it happened, and the steps that reproduce it. Check the release notes for your specific build before assuming there is a known issue or workaround.
Report a reproducible problem
Use Feedback Assistant on beta iOS to submit a report. Include clear reproduction steps and, when relevant, screenshots or a screen recording; record the time and date and the exact software version. Apple encourages users to report issues during the beta cycle, but does not promise a reply, a fix, or a particular timeline. Its guidance says it reviews reports without providing intermediate status updates while investigating.
Stop future beta updates without uninstalling the current beta
If you are content to keep the version already installed but do not want more beta builds, turn off beta updates. On iOS 16.4 or later, open Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and select Off. This changes future update eligibility; it neither removes the installed beta nor downgrades iOS.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
On iOS 16.3.1 or earlier, Apple’s documented method is to remove the beta profile. If you installed the beta using a computer, Apple says you need to restore the device to remove it. See Apple’s instructions for turning off beta updates and removing beta software.
Return to public iOS now: understand the erase-and-restore trade-off
Apple’s supported route from an installed beta to the current publicly released iOS is to erase the iPhone and restore it using a computer and recovery mode. This is different from turning Beta Updates off, and it removes the phone’s contents. Before proceeding, locate an archived backup made before you installed the beta, if you have one.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Why the newest backup may not restore
A backup created while the iPhone was running beta software may not be compatible with an earlier iOS version. Apple recommends using an archived backup made on an earlier version of iOS. Do not assume a recent beta-era backup will restore after the downgrade; if no compatible backup exists, you may not be able to restore the phone’s saved data from that backup.
Use Apple’s current recovery instructions for your setup
Follow Apple’s live instructions for removing beta software by restoring your device and its recovery-mode restore procedure. The exact recovery-mode steps depend on the iPhone model and computer. Apple’s process uses a current Mac or Apple Devices on Windows; follow the instructions for your platform rather than applying a button sequence intended for a different model.

- Confirm that you accept erasing the iPhone and check for an archived pre-beta backup before starting.
- Connect the iPhone to a current Mac or a Windows PC with Apple Devices, then follow Apple’s model-specific directions to enter recovery mode.
- When prompted on the computer, choose the restore option. This erases the iPhone and installs the current publicly released iOS.
- After the restore, set up the iPhone and restore only from a compatible backup. A backup made on the beta may not be usable on the earlier release.
If the beta has expired
If the iPhone says a software update is available in the context of an expired beta, Apple says the beta has expired. Open Settings > General > Software Update and install the offered update. This is an update path, not the same as turning beta updates off or choosing the erase-and-restore rollback.

Use Apple’s recovery-mode restore instructions for your exact iPhone model and computer platform if a normal update or restore cannot be completed. Recovery mode is a computer-assisted restore; it is not a non-destructive way to downgrade, so account for the data-erasure and backup-compatibility risks before choosing restore.
