You can attempt to play Super Mario Bros. Wonder on a Windows or Linux PC through a Nintendo Switch emulator, but it is a community-supported route—not a Nintendo-supported PC version—and it requires lawful access to the game and system files from a compatible Switch. Performance and compatibility on a particular computer are not established by the available project documentation.
What you need to know before setting it up
Nintendo lists Super Mario Bros. Wonder as a Nintendo Switch game, released October 20, 2023. Its US product listing gives a 3.7 GB file size and supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. There is no official PC edition listed by Nintendo. Nintendo’s product listing
Ryubing describes itself as a fork of the discontinued Ryujinx emulator. Its documentation lists Windows and Linux support and graphics APIs, including Vulkan and OpenGL, and states that 8 GiB of RAM is a baseline for running the emulator. That is not a Wonder-specific recommended specification or a promise of acceptable performance. Ryubing documentation index
- A PC that meets the emulator project’s stated baseline, with compatible graphics hardware and drivers.
- A current emulator build obtained through the project’s official channels.
- A compatible Nintendo Switch and legally obtained game and system files dumped from that console, as described by Ryubing.
- Time to configure controls and graphics; settings and results can vary by computer.
Use only game and system files you are entitled to use
Ryubing’s FAQ says commercial games require a compatible Switch and legally purchased game, firmware, and keys dumped from it. It also says the project does not support piracy. Do not download unauthorized game copies, firmware, or encryption keys. Nintendo’s piracy FAQ sets out the company’s own position on piracy and emulators; it is a statement of Nintendo policy, not a ruling on every person’s circumstances. Laws and exceptions vary by jurisdiction, and these sources do not determine whether a particular dump or setup is lawful. Consult local law if you need a legal answer. High-level setup sequence
- Check your PC: Compare its memory, operating system, graphics hardware, and drivers with the current requirements in Ryubing’s official documentation. The project’s 8 GiB RAM baseline refers to emulator operation generally, not a tested requirement for Wonder.
- Get the emulator from the project: Use Ryubing’s official project channels for a current build. The documentation index identifies Ryubing as a fork of Ryujinx; it does not establish that every build or configuration will work with this game.
- Prepare your own lawful files: Follow the emulator project’s documentation to use game and system files dumped from a compatible Switch you own or otherwise have the right to use. Do not obtain these files from unauthorized download sites.
- Configure the emulator: Use the project’s current documentation to add the game, set up controls, and choose supported graphics options. Exact menus and procedures can change between builds, so rely on the documentation for the build you installed rather than outdated walkthroughs.
- Test and adjust: If the game launches, check controls and stability before changing graphics settings. The reviewed documentation does not provide reproducible frame-rate, resolution, or hardware comparisons for Wonder, so there is no reliable universal setting to recommend.
If Wonder reports an out-of-device-memory error
Ryubing’s troubleshooting guidance specifically notes that Wonder may need texture recompression if an out-of-device-memory crash occurs. Treat this as a conditional project suggestion, not a universal fix or independently tested guarantee. Texture handling can use substantial graphics memory; consult the project’s current troubleshooting instructions for the relevant build. Ryubing FAQ and troubleshooting
If the crash continues, confirm that the emulator build and graphics drivers are current and check the project’s documentation for known issues. Do not infer that the game is incompatible solely from one crash, or that a particular GPU will solve it: the available compatibility information does not establish a current, reproducible result for a specific PC.

Compatibility and online features
Ryubing’s compatibility tracker says reports should use official builds without hacks, mods, or cheats. Its reporting rules are not a blanket guarantee that Wonder works on every system, and the reviewed sources do not establish a reproducible compatibility verdict for a particular computer. Nintendo lists local play for one to four players on one system and online play for one to four players. For Nintendo’s official online play, Nintendo specifies internet access, a Nintendo Account, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership; it also says an update is required for internet features. These requirements describe the supported Nintendo Switch experience, not confirmed emulator access to Nintendo’s online services. Nintendo’s support page lists an update available April 15, 2026, and Nintendo Support Japan’s history lists version 1.2.1 dated April 16, 2026. Additional accessories may be required for multiplayer. Nintendo product listing · Nintendo Support update information · Nintendo Support Japan update history
