In the Modern Warfare II (MWII) era, mastery camos were usable in MWII and Warzone 2.0 on the corresponding MWII weapons, including in DMZ. MWII completionist camos later carried into Modern Warfare III (MWIII), but they could not be equipped on MWIII weapons. For the announced Modern Warfare 4 (MW4) Season 1 carry-forward arrangement, Activision said on September 24, 2026, that legacy weapon camos would not be available.
What “transfer” means for mastery camos
Owning or carrying an unlock into another game does not necessarily let you equip it on every weapon. The key questions are which Warzone version or season you mean, whether you mean the unlock itself or the ability to equip it, and whether the target weapon is from MWII or a later title.
MWII, Warzone 2.0, and DMZ
When Warzone 2.0 launched, Activision described its weapons, progression, and inventory as tied to MWII. DMZ was introduced as part of Warzone 2.0, and MWII-era event materials included camo activities and rewards across DMZ and Warzone modes. In that historical ecosystem, MWII mastery camos could be used in MWII and Warzone 2.0 on the corresponding MWII weapons. That relationship was specific to Warzone 2.0, not a universal rule for every Warzone release. Warzone Caldera was separate and did not receive MWII/Warzone 2.0 content. The cited historical materials do not establish whether DMZ is currently playable, so they should not be taken as confirmation of its present availability.

What changed when MWII camos carried into MWIII
Activision’s Carry Forward FAQ says MWII completionist camos—Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion—carried forward into MWIII, but remained restricted to their corresponding MWII weapons. They could not be applied to MWIII weapons. The FAQ states: “Modern Warfare II Completionist Camos cannot be placed onto MWIII weapons, or vice versa.” Read the official Carry Forward FAQ.
Current Warzone and the MW4 Season 1 plan
Do not assume the older MWII-to-MWIII rule applies to current Warzone. In a correction dated September 24, 2026, Activision said legacy weapon camos would not be available under the announced MW4 Season 1 carry-forward arrangement. Its statement that legacy weapons, operators, skins, and blueprints remain available does not include camos. See Activision’s correction.
