To review a child’s recent PS5 playtime, open the PlayStation Family app, select the child, and check the Activity widget. It shows a graph for the last seven days and a Most Played list. To manage when or how long the child can play, use Playtime Settings on the PS5 instead. PlayStation documents this activity report for child family accounts; its support guidance does not establish an equivalent report for an adult’s own account.
Check a child’s recent playtime in the PlayStation Family app
- Open the PlayStation Family app and select the child on the home screen.
- Scroll to the Activity widget.
- Review the Time Played graph for the last seven days, then check Most Played for playtime by game and app. PlayStation’s Family app guidance describes this activity summary.
- Open or refresh the app to update playtime data.
The app also has a Playing Now widget, which shows the game a child is playing and its age rating. PlayStation advises closing games before the child logs in for accurate current-session information. The app is described on PlayStation’s US Family app page as a free download for iOS and Android.
Set or change playtime limits on the PS5
Use the console settings to control future play, not to review the seven-day activity graph. Sign in as the family manager or an appointed parent or guardian, then follow this path:
- On the PS5, go to Settings > Family and Parental Controls > Family Management.
- Select the child. Set the child’s time zone if it has not already been configured.
- Open Playtime Settings, choose the desired controls, and save. PlayStation documents this path in its playtime controls guidance.
Playtime Settings can specify playable hours and duration by day, restrict whether the child may play, and determine whether the child receives a notification or is logged out when time ends. A child can request more time from a PS5 reminder notification, and an authorized adult can respond. When the child uses both a PS5 and PS4, the restrictions apply to both consoles. The PS5’s parental controls also include Change Playtime for Today and Playtime Settings, as listed in PlayStation’s PS5 parental-controls guidance.

Who can see the report and use the controls?
The documented report and limits are for a child account in a PlayStation family. PlayStation says family managers, parents, and guardians can see a child’s activity in the Family app. To adjust the child’s controls, the adult must have an authorized family role, and the child’s account needs a time zone set. PlayStation’s family management guidance describes family roles and activity access.
Privacy settings separately govern who can see a user’s gaming history and current activity. The child activity report is not evidence that another person can view every player’s usage, and the cited PlayStation pages do not establish the same Family app report for an adult’s own account.
