On Windows 11 ARM, check the Xbox PC app first; otherwise consider Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW for games those services support. If you have access to a gaming PC, Moonlight can stream games from it to a supported ARM device.
Choose a route based on your device and game
“ARM device” can mean a Windows 11 ARM computer, an Android phone or tablet, a Chromebook, or a Raspberry Pi. Those devices do not all support the same apps or game services. Before installing anything, identify your operating system and check whether the specific game is available through the route you plan to use.

These options differ in where the game runs. Xbox PC app play runs locally on a compatible Windows ARM device; Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce NOW stream from a service; Moonlight streams from a PC you control.
Try local play with the Xbox PC app on Windows 11 ARM
If your device runs Windows 11 ARM, start by checking the Xbox PC app for the game you want. Microsoft announced on January 21, 2026, that more than 85% of the Game Pass catalog was compatible with Windows 11 ARM PCs at that time. That dated catalog figure is not a guarantee that a particular game will work on your device, and it does not mean that 85% of all PC games are compatible. Even when a game appears available, individual titles can fail because of compatibility issues. Microsoft specifically warns that games relying on unsupported anti-cheat drivers may not work on Windows 11 ARM. Check the game publisher’s support information or Microsoft’s Windows ARM gaming guidance before assuming a title will run.
Use Xbox Cloud Gaming when local play is unavailable
If a game will not run locally, see whether it is offered through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft pointed to cloud gaming as a fallback for titles that are not yet supported locally in its January 21, 2026 announcement. Cloud gaming streams the game rather than installing and running it on the ARM device.

Check the current game catalog, supported device and region, and service terms before relying on this option. A cloud service does not make every PC game available, and a reliable network is important for streaming.
Consider GeForce NOW for games it supports
GeForce NOW is another cloud-streaming option for eligible games. NVIDIA lists Windows ARM support as beta, so confirm the current device and app requirements on its device support page. Game availability is determined by the service’s supported titles, not simply by whether you own the game on Steam.

Check the game’s availability label
NVIDIA distinguishes between Ready-to-Play games and its Install-to-Play feature. Install-to-Play is limited to Steam games whose publishers have opted in. NVIDIA says it requires a premium membership; games may need to be installed again in each session, while persistent storage can preserve installs for eligible use. Check the game’s current status and storage behavior in NVIDIA’s Install-to-Play support information, which NVIDIA says was updated September 10, 2025. Eligibility and terms may change.

If you own or can access a gaming PC, Moonlight can stream games from that computer to a client device. Moonlight recommends Sunshine as host software and lists clients for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Raspberry Pi, and other platforms. With this approach, the game runs on the host PC, not the ARM device. You need access to that computer and a network connection suitable for streaming. Moonlight documents gamepad input through a virtual Xbox 360 controller; that does not establish compatibility for every controller model or device. Make the decision in this order
- Identify the operating system. Confirm whether the device runs Windows 11 ARM, Android, ChromeOS, or another supported platform; app availability differs.
- Check local compatibility first. On Windows 11 ARM, search for the title in the Xbox PC app and verify title-specific support, especially if the game uses anti-cheat.
- Check cloud catalogs and device support. If local play is not viable, verify that Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW offers the exact game in your region and supports your device.
- Use your own PC if available. Set up Sunshine on the gaming PC and a Moonlight client on the ARM device, then confirm that your network and input setup work for the games you want.
- Check input needs. A controller may be useful on a phone, tablet, or handheld, but confirm that the device and game support the controller connection and input type you plan to use.
