Sony allows this setting on one PS5 at a time and warns that sharing your sign-in details risks your account and violates its Terms of Service.
What PS5 Console Sharing does
Console Sharing and Offline Play makes eligible games and media purchased and downloaded by the account holder available to anyone who uses that enabled PS5. Those users can play the available content even when the console is offline. The feature shares access on that console; it does not transfer game ownership or purchases to another person’s account. PlayStation Support explains what the setting enables.
How to enable Console Sharing and Offline Play
- On the PS5 signed in to the account that owns the games, open Settings.
- Go to Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable. To turn it off on that console, return to the same screen and select Disable.
Sony says the first PS5 used to sign in has this feature allowed automatically. To enable it on a different PS5, disable it on the previous console first. See Sony’s setup and troubleshooting guide.
Console Sharing vs. sharing your account

PlayStation Support says never to share account details. Sony’s US PlayStation Terms of Service also say users should safeguard sign-in IDs, passwords, passkeys, and other authentication information.

Which PlayStation Plus benefits can other users use?
Selected PlayStation Plus benefits can be shared on a primary PS4 and on one PS5 with Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled. This does not mean every Plus feature or entitlement is shared. Check Sony’s current PlayStation Plus benefit-sharing information for the specific benefit and subscription tier you care about.
What Console Sharing does not do
It does not move purchases to another account
The games remain purchases associated with the account that bought them. Other users of the enabled console get access to eligible content, not ownership on their own accounts.

It is not Share Play
Share Play is a separate feature for playing together remotely or passing controls to another player. It is not the setting that makes downloaded purchases available to other local users of your PS5.

If you can access the old PS5, disable Console Sharing and Offline Play there, then enable it on the new PS5. If you cannot access the old console, PlayStation Account Management offers remote deactivation of all devices. Sony says this remote option can be used only once every six months, so it is not a routine way to switch consoles.

If a game or benefit is unavailable
- Confirm that the account holder purchased the game or has an active subscription that includes the benefit.
- Check whether the content is still available through the subscription; availability can change.
- Check that Console Sharing and Offline Play is enabled on this PS5 and not enabled on another one.
- If activation fails, check PlayStation service status, update the PS5 system software, restart the console and router, and try again.
- If access still fails, check the game’s license or network connection and follow Sony’s support guide for the specific error.
