Circadian Dice focuses on shaping dice, Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles on building and editing a dice pool, and Dicey Dungeons on assigning rolls to equipment and class abilities. They offer different kinds of challenge, so there is no evidence-based universal difficulty ranking.
What does “building” mean in each game?
The label “dice-building roguelite” covers several different systems here. In one game you reshape dice faces; in another you assemble and edit a pool; in a third you mainly develop equipment and use rolled dice to activate it. Decide which of those sounds most satisfying before comparing feature counts.

How much control do you want over luck?
Choose dice shaping if you like turning chance into a system
Circadian Dice makes probability manipulation and die-face upgrades central. It suits players who enjoy converting a random roll into a resource, attack, or combo opportunity through deliberate build choices.

Choose pool-building if you want risk to be part of the health system
In Astrea, the choice among safe, balanced, and risky dice sits alongside the Purification-versus-Corruption system. Corruption is not simply a bad result: it can harm you or heal enemies, but taking it can also enable skills on the dynamic health bar. This makes risk management part of the build rather than only a question of whether a roll is high or low.
Choose equipment and push-your-luck play if you enjoy adapting to rolls
Dicey Dungeons asks you to assign dice to equipment while adapting a plan to the roll you get. Its classes also change how uncertainty plays out: the Robot’s blackjack-style dice-gaining mechanic is explicitly push-your-luck, while other classes bring different tools and constraints.

How should you compare difficulty?
There is no calibrated head-to-head difficulty test in these game descriptions. Circadian Dice offers Normal and Hard modes for scenarios. Astrea is tagged “Difficult” on Steam and features high-risk dice, but that storefront tag is not a standardized rating. Dicey Dungeons highlights distinct class play styles and dice uncertainty without stating a comparable global difficulty scale.
Instead of treating those labels as a ranking, consider what makes a game demanding for you: choosing between risk and safety, adapting a build to uncertain rolls, or learning how different classes use their tools. A selectable mode can be useful if you want an explicit difficulty choice; class variation or risk-based systems may matter more if you prefer challenge through changing decisions.

What gives each game replay value?
Scenario and mode variety
Circadian Dice offers scenario selection and, according to its 2022 Steam description, Normal and Hard variants, persistent unlocks, an endless randomized scenario, and a campaign. Its hand-crafted scenarios and randomized end-game mode point to both authored challenges and repeatable variation.
Character and class variation
Dicey Dungeons differentiates its six classes through distinct mechanics, and its procedural generation changes playthroughs. The Steam listing also describes Reunion as free DLC with six new episodes. Astrea puts replay variation in its six Oracles, each with distinct dice sets, abilities, and play styles.

Do not infer hours from feature counts
These listings provide content counts and feature descriptions, not independent measurements of completion time, win rates, or replay value. The figures can help identify the kinds of variation offered, but they do not establish which game is objectively the most replayable or how many hours any player will get.
