LEGO and Sanrio announced a multi-year partnership on October 6, 2026, with the first products expected in 2027, but no individual sets or exact release dates have been announced. Here’s what is confirmed—and what to compare when official listings appear.
What LEGO and Sanrio have announced
The LEGO Group and Sanrio say they are partnering to bring Hello Kitty and Friends into LEGO play sets for the first time. Their October 6, 2026 announcement says products will begin arriving in 2027, but does not identify set names, themes, ages, piece counts, prices, or precise release dates. LEGO’s UK Sanrio page likewise says the exact release timing remains undisclosed and that there have been no LEGO Sanrio sets before.
That means there is no confirmed set to recommend or compare today. Avoid treating third-party compatible bricks, generic LEGO products, or non-building Hello Kitty toys as official LEGO Hello Kitty sets.
How to compare the official sets when they appear
Use the product page for your country, since the announcement’s 2027 window does not confirm exact timing or availability in every market. Compare the details actually published for each set:

Start with the official age recommendation
Use the age printed on the individual product listing as your starting point. LEGO’s current US shop groups its general catalog into 1.5+, 4+, 6+, 9+, 13+, and 18+ categories; these are existing shopping categories, not ratings for future Sanrio products. See LEGO’s US age categories for the current structure.
Check the local price and your budget
Compare the price shown in your country’s official shop and check current retailer listings before buying. LEGO’s US shop currently has general price filters from under $25 to over $100, but those bands do not predict what a Sanrio set will cost.

Use piece count and description to judge the build
Once listed, piece count and the official description can help you compare the relative scale of sets and the likely size of the building project. Neither is known for the upcoming line, so wait for the product pages rather than relying on speculation.
Decide whether the child wants to play or display
Read the product description and inspect the official images for clues about the set’s intended use. A build with character scenes or interactive features may suit storytelling and play; a model presented mainly as a finished display may suit a different preference. Do not assume that any particular set will have either format until LEGO publishes it.

Verify timing and availability where you live
Check the official regional LEGO page and a local retailer listing before planning a purchase. “Begins in 2027” is a launch window, not a specific release date or a guarantee that every set will be available in every country at the same time.
