The right next step depends on the symptom: the official guidance documents one fix for Steam error 1138:100134, but it does not provide a universal remedy for lag, stuttering, or connection problems.
First, identify what “lag” means
Before changing settings, note what is happening. These symptoms can have different causes and call for different checks:
- Low or uneven FPS: The image looks choppy, even when your character’s actions respond promptly.
- Brief freezes or stuttering: The game pauses momentarily or movement becomes uneven.
- Delayed actions or rubber-banding: Inputs take time to register, or your character appears to snap back.
- Disconnects or login failure: You cannot enter the game, or the connection drops.
This is a practical way to sort the symptoms, not an official AION 2 diagnostic tool. Write down when the issue occurs and its exact error text or code before troubleshooting.
Check for scheduled maintenance
If you cannot log in, check the current official AION 2 Steam notice before changing your PC or network. A notice announced maintenance for October 6 PDT / October 7 CEST and said login would be unavailable during that period; that dated notice is not evidence of current server status, and schedules can change.

If no current maintenance notice explains the issue, record the error message and consult AION 2 support. For a specific Steam account-linking error, see the next section.
Fix Steam error 1138:100134
If the message says “Failed to reset Steam account linking. Please check Steam’s status and restart the game.” and shows error 1138:100134, AION 2 support recommends running Steam as an administrator and launching the game again. The support article notes that the error can happen in a variety of cases, so this step should not be treated as a fix for other launch errors.

- Close AION 2 and Steam.
- Right-click Steam and select Run as administrator.
- Launch AION 2 again through Steam.
- If error 1138:100134 persists, submit a request to AION 2 Customer Service.

Compare your PC with the official requirements
For low FPS or stuttering, compare your computer with the published AION 2 requirements. The official FHD presets are a baseline for compatibility, not a guarantee that graphics settings explain every freeze or frame-rate problem.

Use the listed FHD preset as a starting point
- If your PC is around the minimum tier, try the official Very Low at FHD preset.
- If it meets the recommended tier, use the official Low at FHD preset as a starting point.
- Check that the game has 100 GB of free storage available and note whether your drive is an SSD; the official requirements recommend SSD storage.
If the symptoms continue, record your hardware and when the stutter occurs rather than assuming that a settings change or SSD will resolve it.

Troubleshoot connection problems outside the documented error
The official requirement is a broadband internet connection, but the cited AION 2 sources do not give a minimum bandwidth, ping target, or packet-loss threshold, or a game-specific network troubleshooting sequence. For delayed actions, rubber-banding, or disconnections outside error 1138:100134, use general checks without treating them as confirmed AION 2 fixes:
- Note the time, server or region, and whether the problem is continuous or intermittent.
- Check whether other online games or services have connection issues at the same time.
- If practical, compare a wired connection with Wi-Fi and restart your router using its normal procedure.
- Keep changes reversible, and test one at a time so you can tell whether anything changes.
The reviewed official guidance does not establish that a VPN, gaming route optimizer, router replacement, or DNS change fixes AION 2 connection problems. Avoid treating any of these as a guaranteed remedy.

What to include when contacting support
A clear report can help support distinguish a login error from a performance or network symptom. Include the exact error text or code, server or region, time of the issue, whether other online games are affected, and your PC’s operating system, processor, RAM, graphics card, and storage details. For error 1138:100134, mention whether you tried running Steam as administrator.
