There is no single best graphics preset for every PC or Steam Deck. The right settings depend on your hardware, resolution, frame-rate target, and whether you value image detail, consistent performance, or battery life most. Use the starting points below, then change one setting at a time and retest in the same area.
What performance should you expect?
Steam’s current PC store listing describes Monster Hunter Rise as targeting 1080p at 30fps on Low graphics settings in its additional notes: Steam store listing. This is a published baseline, not a guarantee for every PC or every game area.
Capcom warns that a system below the minimum requirements may have a poor frame rate or may not run the game. If your PC meets the minimum requirements but not the recommended ones, Capcom advises lowering graphics settings: Capcom Support: Monster Hunter Rise – General Troubleshooting Guide – Steam.
How to improve Monster Hunter Rise performance on PC
Check your PC against the requirements
Compare the CPU, graphics card, and memory in your PC with the current minimum and recommended requirements on the Steam store page. If your system is below minimum, reducing settings may help, but it cannot be counted on to prevent poor performance or startup problems.

Lower settings if you meet minimum but not recommended requirements
Capcom’s guidance is to turn down graphics settings in this situation. Start with the settings that most affect the visual features you can tolerate reducing, then check whether performance improves. The sources do not establish one best combination for every PC, so avoid treating a preset or hardware upgrade as a universal fix.
Tune toward your own target
- Record a baseline. In a representative area, note your frame rate and whether the image quality is acceptable.
- Change one graphics setting. Avoid changing several at once; otherwise, it is harder to tell which adjustment helped.
- Retest in the same area. Compare frame-rate stability and image quality under similar conditions.
- Keep or undo the change. Keep it only if it moves you toward your chosen balance of smoothness and visuals.
Best settings for Monster Hunter Rise on Steam Deck
A Steam Community guide posted in August 2022 offers a reasonable starting configuration to try, but it is one user’s report—not an official preset or a current, controlled benchmark. Its in-game suggestions were:

The author also described Steam Deck Quick Access choices of a 60fps/60Hz cap, Half Rate Shading On, and a manual GPU clock of 1200–1400. These are settings from that August 2022 guide, not guarantees for every Deck, game area, or game update; adjust or skip device controls if they cause instability or do not suit your performance and power goals. What the guide’s performance anecdote does—and does not—show
In one Flooded Forest spawn situation, the guide’s author reported 33fps with Dynamic Shadows enabled and 60fps with them disabled. That is an anecdotal comparison from a single user in August 2022, not a general benchmark or a result to expect on other Decks or in other locations.

The same author observed that forcing FSR through the Deck’s scaling filter could improve performance while adding frame-time stuttering. Treat that as a tradeoff to check on your own device, not a guaranteed improvement.

How to choose between smoothness, image quality, and battery use
- For steadier frame rates: Pick a target your device can sustain, then compare changes in the same area. A high cap is not useful if performance fluctuates enough to undermine the experience.
- For sharper visuals: Preserve image quality and texture detail where performance allows; reduce settings such as shadow detail only when the visual compromise is acceptable.
- For handheld power priorities: Test power use separately from graphics smoothness. The cited sources do not provide current controlled battery-life measurements, so a particular setting cannot be promised to extend play time.
