Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesStart by checking the exact doorbell and lock models: a shared brand, ecosystem badge, or Matter support does not prove that your doorbell can trigger your lock. Confirm the supported models, firmware, region, hub requirements, and specific action—such as viewing the visitor, checking lock status, or unlocking from live view—before pairing. Then set up each device in its own app, secure the accounts and network, and test the integration while you are home.
Check whether your exact doorbell and lock can work together
Compatibility is feature-specific. A platform may show a lock’s status without letting a doorbell’s live view unlock it; a Matter connection may add a lock to a smart-home platform without creating a doorbell-to-lock action. Look for documentation that names both models and the feature you want, not just a general “works with” logo.
- Write down each device’s exact model, hardware revision if listed, firmware version, and country or region.
- Check the current manufacturer support page for that specific combination. Support lists and firmware requirements can change.
- Identify whether the route is a direct manufacturer pairing, a shared smart-home platform, or Matter. Confirm any hub requirement and which controls are available through that route.
- Separate the capabilities: doorbell notification, live view, lock status, remote unlock, voice control, and automation are not interchangeable.
Examples of documented routes
Aqara describes an integration between the Aqara Smart Lock U100 and Aqara Video Doorbell G4: when someone presses the doorbell, the user can view who is there and unlock the U100 if needed. Aqara also lists Apple Home/Home Key and Matter-related compatibility for the U100, with hub requirements for some features. Do not assume every platform exposes the same controls.
TP-Link documents unlocking a compatible Tapo lock from the Live View or Video Call page of selected Tapo doorbells, along with synchronized notifications. Its support guide names supported doorbell models and firmware, requires the devices to be online on the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same Tapo account, and says local-only mode does not support the integration. Check TP-Link’s current support guidance for the exact model list and firmware requirements before setup.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For eufy C34/E30 locks, the cited setup route adds the lock through Matter and requires a compatible Matter hub in the selected Apple, Alexa, or Google ecosystem. That establishes a route for lock access through those ecosystems; it does not by itself establish that a particular doorbell can trigger unlocking.
Secure the lock, accounts, and network before pairing
Check the physical lock and fallback
Install and configure the lock on its own first, following the exact model’s installation guide for door and deadbolt fit. Keep the physical key or other fallback provided by the manufacturer. Fit requirements vary, so do not rely on another model’s measurements.

Protect accounts and Wi-Fi
- Replace default router and device credentials. Use a unique password for each account, especially the account that controls the lock.
- Enable two-factor authentication or MFA wherever the manufacturer or platform offers it.
- Update router firmware, use Wi-Fi encryption, and consider a separate guest or IoT network if your router supports one. After moving devices, test that local discovery and the integration still work.
- Disable remote-management, voice, or other access features the household does not need.
The FTC recommends using available security features and keeping connected-device software and apps current; it also identifies the router as an important point for IoT privacy because connected devices commonly use it to reach the internet. See the FTC guide to securing home Wi-Fi and its connected-home security guidance. NIST likewise advises considering a separate network for smart-home devices in its consumer IoT security resources.
Set up the devices and pair them safely
- Add each device in its manufacturer app. Complete standalone lock and doorbell setup first, install available firmware and app updates, and configure household members, access codes, camera/audio retention, and cloud privacy settings.
- Meet the integration’s requirements. For direct pairing, follow the exact manufacturer instructions. For a platform or Matter route, verify that the selected hub supports the device and the particular lock controls you need. eufy’s cited Matter setup requires a compatible hub in the chosen ecosystem. Apple describes authenticated, encrypted communication for HomeKit accessories and certificate-based identity and encrypted sessions for Matter accessories in Apple homes; those protections do not guarantee that a given lock and doorbell interoperate. See Apple Platform Security.
- Pair using the app’s current on-screen flow. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for account linking, device discovery, and permissions. Do not share administrator credentials when a household-sharing feature can provide the access needed.
- Test while physically present. Press the doorbell, confirm the expected notification and live view, check lock status, and try the intended unlock action. Test the physical fallback, too. If the network or cloud connection is unavailable, verify what still works rather than assuming an online integration works offline.
Make unlocking deliberate, not automatic
A visitor ringing the bell is not proof that the person should enter. Prefer a notification and an intentional unlock action over an automation that unlocks merely because the doorbell rang. Before enabling any automation, check exactly what event triggers it, whether it can run when nobody is watching, and how to disable it quickly.

Maintain access, privacy, and software support
- Review household members and access codes periodically; remove people who no longer need access and protect codes from casual sharing.
- Review camera and microphone settings, cloud access, video/audio retention, notifications, and sign-in or activity records where offered.
- Keep automatic updates enabled if available, and periodically confirm that the devices and apps are still receiving updates. NIST’s 2020 in-depth study of 40 smart-home users found inconsistent update transparency and confusion about whether updates had been applied. Its 2022 survey of 412 smart-home users examined loss of manufacturer support and noted that unsupported devices may remain connected when users are not alerted or do not understand the consequences. See NIST’s 2020 smart-home update study and 2022 study on loss of manufacturer support.
- If a manufacturer ends support, assess whether to retire or replace the device instead of assuming it will remain safe indefinitely.
- For devices inherited with a home, remove prior administrative access, erase personal data, factory-reset the devices, create new accounts, and check for updates before connecting them to your network. Follow the FTC’s connected-home guidance.
