To use a controller with Amazon Luna, pair a compatible gamepad to your device over Bluetooth or connect it with a data-capable USB cable, then open Luna and start a game. The Amazon Luna Controller is optional; it also supports app-assisted setup and can connect through Cloud Direct, Bluetooth, or USB-C.
Connect a compatible controller to Luna
Amazon’s basic instruction is to connect a compatible controller to play games on Luna. Support depends on both the controller and the device, so check Amazon’s device and controller compatibility guidance for your setup rather than assuming every Bluetooth gamepad will work.
- Put the controller into Bluetooth pairing mode using its own instructions, or connect it to the device with a data-capable USB cable.
- Pair it with the Luna device through that device’s Bluetooth settings, if using Bluetooth.
- Open the Luna app or Amazon Luna in a compatible browser.
- Select a game and begin playing.
On a computer, a keyboard and mouse are another supported way to play; a dedicated Luna Controller is not required.
Set up an Amazon Luna Controller
Amazon’s setup guide calls for the controller, two AA batteries, a mobile device with the Luna Controller app, and Amazon account credentials. The app guides the initial setup and can connect the controller to Wi-Fi for Cloud Direct.

- Install the Luna Controller app on a mobile device and insert two AA batteries into the controller.
- Hold the controller’s Home button for about three seconds, until its light circles orange.
- Wait about 30 seconds, sign in to the app, and choose “Set up New Luna Controller.”
- Follow the prompts in the app. A compatible Echo or Fire TV device may try to connect to Wi-Fi automatically.
Amazon recommends connecting the Luna Controller to your Amazon account over Wi-Fi for the best Cloud Direct results.
Choose a connection method

Amazon’s UK guidance also describes offline gameplay on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS. It says offline gameplay over USB and Bluetooth on iOS versions below 16 is unsupported; platform details may change, so consult the current guidance for your region.

Use a third-party controller with Cloud Direct
Amazon documents an app-assisted route for compatible third-party controllers: open Luna on a compatible device or browser, connect the third-party controller to a mobile device by Bluetooth or USB, then use the Luna Controller app to link it.
- Open Luna on the device where you want to play.
- Open the Luna Controller app on a mobile device and connect the third-party controller to that mobile device by Bluetooth or USB.
- In the app, select “Launch” under “Connect non-Luna Controllers.”
- Wait for the connection, then start a game in Luna.
Fix Amazon Luna Controller Bluetooth pairing problems
Work through these checks in order. Amazon’s Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance emphasizes compatibility, device discoverability, and resetting and pairing again.

- Check compatibility. Confirm that both the controller and the Luna device are supported in Amazon’s compatibility information.
- Make the device discoverable. Turn Bluetooth on and make sure the phone, computer, or TV is set to discover new devices.
- Enter the controller’s pairing mode. With working batteries installed, hold Action and B together for about three seconds. The indicator should blink white.
- Reset and pair again. Hold Home and Menu together for six seconds to factory-reset the Luna Controller, then repeat the pairing steps.
- On Windows, install Amazon’s controller driver. Amazon warns that without the driver, button mapping can be affected.
If Bluetooth still does not connect, try another supported route for the Luna Controller: Cloud Direct after app setup, or wired USB-C with a data-capable cable.
