When did the M5 Pro MacBook Pro come out?
Apple announced MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips on March 3, 2026. Preorders began March 4 in 33 countries and regions, including the United States; customer deliveries and store availability began March 11. Apple offered both chip options in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. Apple’s March 3 announcement gives the launch schedule and configurations.
Apple’s U.S. launch starting prices for the M5 Pro models were $2,199 for the 14-inch model and $2,699 for the 16-inch model. These are launch prices, not a statement of current pricing. Apple Support lists the 14-inch M5 Pro or M5 Max models as Mac17,7 and Mac17,9, and the 16-inch models as Mac17,6 and Mac17,8; its model guide identifies them as introduced in 2026. Apple’s MacBook Pro model-identification guide can help distinguish them from other generations.
What did Apple say the M5 Pro models include?
Apple lists Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 1TB of starting storage for M5 Pro configurations. The company also says the M5 Pro and M5 Max have an up-to-18-core CPU and a GPU with a Neural Accelerator in every core.

Apple advertises up to 4× AI performance versus the previous generation and up to 8× versus M1 models. Those are Apple performance claims, not independent test results; the announcement’s testing notes qualify the comparisons. Apple also claims up to 24 hours of battery life and up to 2× faster SSD performance. “Up to” figures describe the company’s stated maximums, not a guarantee that every configuration or workload will achieve them.
Apple senior vice president of Hardware Engineering John Ternus said the GPU Neural Accelerators enable professionals to run advanced LLMs on-device and “unlock capabilities that no other laptop can do.” That is Apple’s characterization, not an independently established comparison across laptops.

What are the latest MacBook Pro rumors actually about?
Reports published in July 2026 concern a possible later high-end MacBook with an OLED display, not a delayed M5 Pro release. TechRadar relayed Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman’s report that the device was being tested with macOS 27.1 and was on track for a late-2026 to early-2027 window. TechRadar’s report describes that reported timing.
MacRumors reported on July 10 that the timing was fluid and leaning toward early 2027 amid memory constraints and Apple price changes. Its coverage is also secondary reporting about an unannounced product. Apple has not confirmed a launch date, a product name such as “MacBook Ultra,” or features such as an OLED touchscreen. Treat the window and design details as speculation, not a scheduled release.
