A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Short answer: AION 2’s pay-to-win status depends on the regional version and date. At the Korea/Taiwan launch, players reportedly found Quna-purchased items that granted power; NCSOFT said it would remove them. The global model announced in July 2026 is not described as cosmetics-only: its Daeva Pass may include upgrade materials. Whether those materials create a meaningful competitive advantage in the live global game is not established by the available public details.
What counts as pay-to-win in AION 2?
The useful test is not whether the game has a membership, premium currency, or paid pass. It is whether spending real money can buy combat power outright or materially speed access to gear and other competitive advantages.
- Cosmetics: costumes and visual skins do not establish pay-to-win if they do not affect gameplay.
- Convenience: a paid feature may save time or ease access, but its effect on competitive progression matters more than its label.
- Currency exchange and upgrade materials: these warrant closer scrutiny if they can be used to acquire gear or accelerate upgrades.
This framework helps distinguish monetization features from their actual power effects. The available announcements do not establish the live competitive impact of every global-version feature.
What happened with Korea and Taiwan?
NCSOFT’s September 12, 2025 announcement for the Korea/Taiwan version described memberships and passes for convenience, cosmetic costumes, weapon skins, pets and wings, and an option to exchange in-game currency for premium currency. The announced launch date was November 19, 2025. NCSOFT’s announcement described the planned model, not every item later available in the shop.

At launch, a separate episode raised direct pay-to-win concerns. PC Gamer reported that players found items purchasable with Quna that granted power. It said NCSOFT held an emergency broadcast and planned to pull the items after a temporary update. In PC Gamer’s account and translation, development producer Kim Nam-joon said, “We were complacent and unthoughtful, and we will be pulling the items from the store after today’s temporary update.” Business-division head So In-seop apologized: “I have no excuse to offer you, but I am truly sorry.”
This establishes a reported, brief power-item controversy at the Korea/Taiwan launch, followed by a stated removal. It does not show that those items remain for sale now, or describe the current global shop.

How does the announced global model differ?
The global plan was announced separately from the Korea/Taiwan model. AION2 Hub’s July 22, 2026 summary of an NCSOFT notice published July 8 describes a free-to-play version with Kina as gameplay-earned Market currency and Quna as premium currency. According to that summary, an active membership was required for access to the Market and Kina–Quna Exchange. The summary also describes shop cosmetics as aesthetic and consumables as earnable through regular play. Read the summary of the global business-model notice.
The Daeva Pass is the important qualification to any claim that the global version is cosmetics-only. Its rewards may include cosmetics, items, upgrade materials, and other in-game currencies. The announcement summary does not clarify whether those upgrade materials translate into a meaningful gear or competitive advantage, so their presence alone does not settle the pay-to-win question.

NCSOFT’s global AION 2 site provides current global notices, but the available public details do not establish a complete live shop catalog, full membership benefits, or a pass reward table sufficient to measure paid progression against free play. The global plan therefore appears more restrained in its stated shop policy than the reported Korea/Taiwan launch episode, but a definitive judgment about the live global economy is not supported by those details.
Do the versions differ on currency and trading?
Yes. The announcements cover distinct regional plans, and their currency language should not be merged into one description.

| Korea/Taiwan, announced September 12, 2025 | NCSOFT said players could exchange in-game currency for premium currency. | An announced exchange feature; the release does not by itself establish the current shop inventory or competitive effect. |
| Global, July 2026 notice summarized July 22, 2026 | Kina is described as gameplay-earned Market currency; Quna as premium currency. The summary says membership was required for Market and Kina–Quna Exchange access. | An announced global model; the summary does not establish the current full benefit list or how exchange affects competitive power. |
NCSOFT’s August 12, 2025 release also quoted producer Namjoon Kim describing the trade system this way: “The Trade system enables players to exchange items using in-game currency instead of premium currency. After careful consideration, we designed this system to offer the most enjoyable experience for players.” That statement concerns the trade design described in that release; it should not be read as a complete account of every later exchange mechanic. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the official currency exchange the same as real-money trading?
No. An in-game exchange involving Quna or Kina is part of the game’s official economy. The global operation policy separately defines prohibited real-money trading to include exchanging game items or currency for real money, goods, or services. Those are different activities: the presence of an official premium-currency exchange does not make third-party cash trading allowed. Check the AION 2 Global operation policy for the policy and sanctions.

What can players conclude before spending?
- For Korea/Taiwan: there is documented reporting of a launch-period Quna item episode involving power, followed by NCSOFT’s stated plan to remove the items. That history is relevant, but it is not proof of what is currently sold.
- For global: the announced plan includes cosmetic goods and a pass that may award upgrade materials. The public summary does not establish whether those materials materially improve competitive progression.
- For any purchase: check the current regional client’s item description and ask whether the benefit is cosmetic, convenience-only, or a direct or substantial progression advantage. A pass containing upgrade materials deserves more scrutiny than a purely cosmetic skin.
Commercial milestones do not answer the power question. NCSOFT reported KRW 100 billion in cumulative revenue by January 3, 2026, 46 days after the Korea/Taiwan launch, and said more than one million characters had purchased memberships during that period. These are company-reported figures, not evidence of average spending or a purchase-driven competitive gap. NCSOFT’s January 7, 2026 roadmap release does not establish the share of players who spent, median spend, or the power impact of purchases.
