First, identify which Genesis E-335 you mean
“Genesis E-335” is not a single, region-independent specification. Weber’s Canadian Genesis II E-335 listing describes an older configuration; its current Japanese E-335 page and a separate specification sheet describe different configurations. Features, included accessories, and warranty terms should not be carried from one version to another.

Before comparing prices or relying on a warranty, check the grill’s full model number, fuel type, market, and included accessories against its own product page or documentation.
What the sear zone does—and what it does not establish
Weber describes the Genesis II E-335 sear station as an intense heat zone intended to add sear marks quickly. That supports a practical claim about the feature’s intended purpose; it does not establish that the grill produces better-tasting steak than another grill. A sear mark is visible browning, not a family preference score or a controlled comparison.

The sear feature is most relevant if you regularly cook steaks in quantities that benefit from a concentrated hot area. If you usually cook one or two steaks, or your current grill already reaches the heat you want, the feature may matter less than cooking space, ease of temperature control, or price. Those are household-specific judgments, not performance results established by the product pages.
How to decide whether the premium is worth paying
The stated “$1,000” is not documented as a current retail price, nor is its currency, market, purchase date, or exact model established. Treat it as a historical purchase price only if the buyer’s records confirm it. For a current decision, compare the actual local price of the exact E-335 configuration with realistic alternatives in the same market.

- Convenience: Count a side burner, storage, expandable grate, or accessory compatibility only if the specific model includes it and your household will use it.
- Included equipment: Separate included accessories from items sold separately. For example, Weber’s Canadian Genesis II E-335 listing identifies the iGrill 3 as compatible but sold separately.
- Warranty: Compare the exact model’s warranty wording, coverage, exclusions, and regional terms. A 10-year parts warranty on the Canadian Genesis II listing and a 12-year limited warranty on a separate specification sheet are not interchangeable promises.
- Fuel and setup: Confirm whether the grill uses the fuel and connection available at your home; the cited configurations are LPG or liquid propane models.
A higher price is easier to justify when the added capacity and features replace something you actually need or use. If the attraction is only the expectation of better-tasting ribeye, the manufacturer descriptions cited here are not enough to support that expectation.
What a useful family ribeye taste test needs to show

- Use comparable ribeye steaks with the same cut, thickness, grade, preparation, and seasoning.
- Keep the cooking method and target doneness consistent, and record how each steak was cooked.
- If the goal is taste rather than appearance or brand recognition, serve samples without telling tasters which grill cooked them.
- Have each person score the same defined qualities on the same scale; keep taste preference separate from sear appearance, convenience, and price.
- Report individual and aggregate grades, and say whether the comparison was repeated. If it was a one-off, call it an informal taste test rather than a controlled result.
Weber’s grilling guide recommends direct grilling for steaks and resting larger cuts and thick steaks for 5 to 10 minutes before carving. Weber’s Canadian Genesis II E-335 listing says the iGrill 3 is compatible and sold separately; that statement applies to that listed configuration. Verify compatibility for the exact model before buying a thermometer, and consider one only if monitoring temperatures would help your cooking.
