Razer’s new Wolverine V4 Pro has the ingredients of a premium competitive controller: wireless Xbox and PC support, six mappable rear inputs, adjustable triggers and a PC polling rate Razer says reaches 8,000 Hz. But those specifications do not yet prove it is the best Xbox controller. Independent testing and direct comparisons are still needed, and Razer’s UK product page even gives two different battery-life estimates.
What is the Razer Wolverine V4 Pro?
Announced on October 6, 2026, the Wolverine V4 Pro is the wireless member of Razer’s new Wolverine V4 line. The other model, the Wolverine V4 Tournament Edition, is wired. Razer positions the line for competitive Xbox and PC play, including FPS, racing and sports games; that is the manufacturer’s intended use, not an independent assessment of how well either controller performs. Razer’s product page also lists native Steam support through Razer HyperSpeed Wireless.
Razer’s announcement and product page describe the Pro as compatible with Xbox and PC. They do not establish every platform-specific feature behavior, so check the product manual or support material for details about a particular setup.
What features might appeal to competitive players?
Six mappable rear inputs
The controller has four removable magnetic rear buttons and two claw-grip bumpers. Razer says all six can be mapped, giving players additional inputs without moving their thumbs from the sticks. Whether the buttons are comfortable to reach, easy to distinguish and resistant to accidental presses will depend on the player and needs hands-on testing.

Adjustable triggers and profiles
Razer says its software can adjust trigger actuation from 1.3 mm to 8.2 mm, set dead zones from 0% to 15%, remap controls and store four profiles. Physical trigger locks offer a separate choice between near-instant, click-like input and full-range analog travel. Shorter trigger actuation may suit games where fast input matters; full travel preserves finer control where an analog trigger is useful.
Capacitive sticks and customization
Razer advertises high-resolution capacitive thumbstick sensors and says they register approximately 3,000 movement steps. Razer measured that figure with its Hyper Wireless dongle connected to a PC at 8,000 Hz polling, so it is a manufacturer-reported result under that condition—not an independent accuracy test or proof of better aim in games. Razer’s launch announcement provides the stated measurement context.

The V4 Pro also has interchangeable stick caps, a removable magnetic faceplate, PBT face buttons and D-pad, and textured grips. Razer’s UK product page describes six swappable caps, including short concave, short convex and tall concave options. These are documented customization features; Razer’s material does not establish broader aftermarket compatibility.
How fast is it, and what do the polling figures mean?
Razer claims polling rates of up to 8,000 Hz on PC and up to 250 Hz on Xbox. A higher polling rate describes how often the controller reports input; by itself, it does not establish the complete time from a button press or stick movement to an on-screen response. That also depends on the connection, console or PC, game and display.

- HYPERSPEED WIRELESS: Delivers an ultra-fast 2.4GHz wireless connection via its included USB Type A dongle and ensures seamless performance that meets the demands of competitive gaming on PS5 consoles and PC
- MECHA-TACTILE ACTION BUTTONS: With a shorter actuation distance for quicker button presses and improved tactility to feel every input, the controller brings a whole new level of speed and consistency to gameplay
- 8-WAY MICROSWITCH D-PAD: Feel and hear every single directional press as microswitches are engaged, enabling accurate and intentional moves when doing intricate combos
- HYPERTRIGGER: Always be first to fire with triggers that can switch from measured, full-range pulls to lightning-quick clicks
- 6 REMAPPABLE BUTTONS: Map 4 extra triggers and 2 custom bumpers to preferred commands
There is also a difference in Razer’s latency wording: the launch announcement says sub-1 ms response times, while the UK product page describes sub-2 ms latency. These are manufacturer claims, not independently verified Wolverine V4 Pro measurements, and the two statements should not be treated as interchangeable test results. No independent V4 Pro latency comparison is established in the available launch material. Razer’s product page contains the latter wording.
Razer’s battery claims conflict
Razer’s UK product page says “Up to 27 hours battery life” in one section and “up to 40 hours” in its FAQ. The launch announcement does not resolve the mismatch. Until Razer clarifies which conditions or configurations account for the difference—or a reliable independent test measures practical runtime—neither figure should be treated as a settled battery estimate. The conflicting claims appear on Razer’s UK product page.

Price and availability in the UK
When checked on October 7, 2026, Razer’s official UK checkout listing showed a price of £199.99, preorder status and shipping from October 26. That is a UK store listing observed on that date, not a global recommended price or confirmation of stock elsewhere. Check the Razer UK Store listing for current price and availability.

It is a credible premium contender on paper, especially for players who want wireless use, several extra mappable inputs and software-adjustable controls. But the launch specifications do not establish a “king.” No independent Wolverine V4 Pro hands-on review or head-to-head results are established in the sources available for this article.

A meaningful comparison with other controllers needs to evaluate the experience, not just the spec sheet. The relevant questions include:
- How comfortable are the controller and rear buttons across different hand sizes and grip styles?
- Do the extra buttons feel distinct, and can players avoid pressing them accidentally?
- How accurate and consistent are the sticks, and how do they hold up to drift over time?
- What are wired and wireless latency results under matched test conditions?
- Which features work on Xbox versus PC, and how straightforward is software setup?
- How long does the battery last in repeatable real-world use, and how reliable is the build?
- Does its performance justify its price against competing options?
Those results matter more than a polling-rate headline when deciding whether it is the right controller. Razer’s endorsement from LastShot, identified in its announcement as the 2025 Halo World Champion with Shopify Rebellion, is promotional testimony rather than independent testing. The launch material quotes him calling it “damn near perfect” and an evolution of the Wolverine V3; that supports the product’s esports positioning, not a comparative verdict.
For context only, PC Gamer reported a $159.99 Amazon deal for the previous-generation Wolverine V3 Pro 8K in an article dated September 16, 2026. That was a dated promotional price for a different controller; it does not establish the V4 Pro’s price or a performance advantage. PC Gamer’s report provides that prior-generation context.
