Is OnePlus shutting down?
No worldwide shutdown has been announced. OnePlus said it had decided to conclude new product rollouts in Europe and North America. In a statement reported by TechCrunch on July 16, 2026, the company said: “After careful assessment, OnePlus will no longer launch new products in Europe and North America.” TechCrunch’s report describes a regional product change, not a global closure.
Reporting says OnePlus India will continue, citing a company statement to NDTV Profit, and that OnePlus planned to continue operating in China. Those reports do not establish what will happen in every market, so the clearest distinction is that new product rollouts are ending in Europe and North America, while operations elsewhere are reported to continue. The Economic Times’ report on India and TechCrunch’s report provide those regional details.
What happens to existing OnePlus phones?
OnePlus says existing devices will continue to receive software updates, security patches, after-sales support, and applicable warranty coverage. The commitment is subject to the relevant support terms; it should not be read as an identical promise for every model, market, or repair situation. The company also says eligible owners may have the option to update to ColorOS 17 after its official release. Is the OnePlus 16 confirmed, and is demand strong?
The sources reviewed do not verify a OnePlus 16 announcement, release date, official specifications, or preorder availability. They also do not provide model-specific evidence of demand, such as sales figures, preorders, or dated search-trend data. People asking about a possible phone may show curiosity, but that is not proof of purchase intent. Until OnePlus confirms the model and measurable demand data exists, both claims remain unsubstantiated.
What do OnePlus’s market-share figures show?
Reported market-share figures provide context about the brand’s position, not demand for a particular unreleased phone. The Economic Times, attributing figures to TechInsights, reported global smartphone market share of 1.1% in 2024 and 0.9% in 2025, with 0.8% forecast for 2026. The 2026 number is a forecast, not an observed result. The same report attributed India volume-share figures to IDC: OnePlus had 4% in Q2 2024 and 2% in Q2 2025. These overall brand measures cannot establish how many people want a OnePlus 16. They describe market share across the stated periods and geographies, not interest in an unannounced model.

If deciding whether to buy an existing phone or wait, compare only what can be verified:
- Availability: Confirm that the specific model is in stock in your region before making a decision.
- Support: Check the phone’s applicable software, warranty, and service terms with OnePlus.
