What the SinLoon desk power button does
The SL089 is a small wired control with two mechanical keys and RGB lighting. Its cable connects to the motherboard’s front-panel headers, where a PC’s case power and reset buttons normally connect. The included splitter is intended to share those connections so the external controls can work alongside the case buttons. The cable also has connectors for power and disk-activity LEDs, according to Tom’s Hardware’s product description and the model’s manual.
It is not a wireless remote: the control must be physically connected inside the desktop. SinLoon’s manual describes a two-meter cable and optional splitter. Check the SinLoon product manual for model SL089 and your motherboard manual for the exact header layout before connecting it; the available product information does not establish compatibility with every motherboard or adapter.
Who is likely to find it useful?
- A tower under or beside a desk: Move the button to a more convenient spot rather than reaching for the case.
- An open-air test setup: Add accessible power and reset controls when components are running outside a case.
- A setup where the case button is already easy to reach: The external switch may add little value, and its cable and header connections may not suit every build.
What to check before installing it
- Identify the motherboard’s front-panel header. Use the motherboard manual to locate the power-switch, reset-switch, power-LED, and disk-activity LED pins. Do not assume that pin positions are universal.
- Compare the connectors. Confirm that the included leads match the header connections in your system. The product sources do not confirm universal fit.
- Decide whether to retain the case controls. The included splitter is designed to let the external control share relevant connections with the case’s existing leads; verify the arrangement against your board’s layout.
- Plan the cable route and mounting spot. The cable is two meters long. The product description also lists adhesive pads and zip ties, which can help position and manage the control.
Tom’s Hardware describes the two mechanical keys as power and restart controls. Follow the motherboard and product instructions for the connections and their functions; do not treat the keys as a substitute for the operating system’s normal shutdown process when the PC is running.

Is it a good deal at $11?
Tom’s Hardware reported an Amazon price of $11.19, reduced from $13.99, on October 6, 2026. That price is time-sensitive, and a live listing, stock status, or current discount has not been verified here. SinLoon claims the mechanical keys can withstand over five million keystrokes, as relayed by Tom’s Hardware. That is a manufacturer durability claim, not an independently published endurance-test result.

Wired desk switch versus a wireless design
A separate wireless desktop power-button design mentioned by Tom’s Hardware uses a PCIe add-in card. It is a distinct option, not a component required by the SinLoon switch. Compare the connection method, whether internal hardware is needed, cable reach, whether you can retain the case buttons, and the price currently shown for each product. The available sources do not establish a current price for the wireless alternative.
