Both use custom planar magnetic drivers, support PlayStation Link and simultaneous connections to supported Bluetooth devices, and include microphones with AI-enhanced noise rejection. Edge adds active noise cancellation, a detachable boom mic and several other features.
What’s new in the PlayStation Pulse headset lineup?
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and PlayStation Pulse Edge Wireless Headset on September 15, 2026. Both are over-ear wireless headsets positioned for PS5 audio. Sony also names PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac as devices that support PlayStation Link.
The two models share the core connection options and planar magnetic driver approach, but Edge has more listed controls and accessories. Sony says each planar driver in Pulse has four magnets; each in Pulse Edge has eight. Sony claims the greater magnet volume per driver in Edge is intended to provide richer, deeper bass while retaining precision and clarity. Those are manufacturer specifications and sound-quality claims, not independent test results.

What does Edge add?
Pulse Edge is the more feature-rich model in Sony’s announcement. The detachable boom mic can be removed while the hidden mic remains available, according to Sony.

Which devices and connections does Sony name?
Sony says PlayStation Link provides lossless, ultra-low-latency audio and allows switching between compatible Link devices. The announcement names PS5 consoles, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac as supported devices. Each headset includes a USB Type-C PlayStation Link adapter.
Both headsets can also connect simultaneously to supported Bluetooth devices. Sony does not enumerate every compatible Bluetooth device or specify connection behavior, codecs or which features work on each platform. The announcement therefore does not establish universal Bluetooth compatibility or identical feature support across devices.
