Meta Muse could create a new source of demand for AMD server CPUs if personal AI agents become widely used, but there is no public evidence that Muse has increased AMD revenue or orders. Meta has an established, broad relationship with AMD, and a September 2026 report connected Muse’s agent sandboxes to AMD EPYC processors. Those facts make the opportunity plausible—not a confirmed earnings boost.
What is Meta Muse, and what can it do?
Meta announced Muse on September 8, 2026, describing it as a personal agent powered by Muse Spark. Rather than only answer questions, Muse is designed to carry out tasks through a dedicated virtual machine that houses the agent and a person’s data. Users can interact with it through the Muse app or WhatsApp.
Meta says Muse can browse the web, fill out forms, send email, book travel, make purchases through Link, and continue working in the background. Some actions, such as sending messages or making payments, may require approval. At launch, Meta described Shop Pay and 1Password support as forthcoming; that announcement does not establish their current availability.
At launch, the Associated Press reported that Muse was available in the United States to people aged 18 and older. Meta’s broader description of the product’s potential should not be read as confirmation of wider availability.

What is Meta’s relationship with AMD?
AMD’s July 23, 2026 account of its collaboration said Meta had deployed millions of EPYC CPUs across its infrastructure. AMD also described work with Meta spanning EPYC CPUs, Instinct GPUs, networking, ROCm software, and rack-scale systems, including future deployment and validation plans.
This is evidence of a substantial AMD–Meta relationship, but AMD did not attribute those existing EPYC deployments to Muse. Nor did its announcement quantify additional hardware demand from the agent.

Why could personal agents increase demand for server CPUs?
Generating a model’s answer is only one part of an agent’s work. An agent may also need to interpret a request, retrieve context, plan steps, call tools, apply policies, run code in an isolated environment, manage task state, and handle input and output. Those supporting tasks can use CPU capacity alongside the accelerators that run model inference.
AMD makes this workload argument in its June 29, 2026 explanation of agentic AI. It describes a possible infrastructure mechanism, not a measured estimate of the market’s future size or AMD’s likely share. If people use agents frequently and those agents perform substantial work, the supporting compute could become a meaningful source of server demand.

Does Muse specifically run on AMD EPYC?
Tom’s Hardware reported on September 25, 2026, that researchers prompted Muse to disclose details identifying EPYC 9D25 Turin hosts for its sandboxes. The report described each sandbox as having two dedicated CPU cores and 8 GB of memory. These are details attributed to the report, not an official Meta hardware specification.
The same report said that GPU servers handle model inference separately. It did not establish which company supplied those GPUs. Its estimate of the number of server trays needed was explicitly rough, so it should not be treated as an audited deployment count. The reported sandbox details support the narrower point that CPUs can host parts of an agent service; they do not prove that AMD supplies Muse’s inference hardware or that Muse has driven a particular volume of EPYC purchases.

What would have to happen for Muse to boost AMD?
The chain from a product launch to a financial result has several steps: users must adopt agents and keep using them; their tasks must require enough ongoing orchestration, tool execution, sandboxing, and state management to add infrastructure demand; and AMD must win some of the resulting CPU deployments. The available sources do not quantify Muse’s sustained active users, retention, task volume, or incremental AMD sales, so they cannot establish how far along that chain the product has progressed.
Meta CTO David Singleton, quoted by Tom’s Hardware on September 25, 2026, said, “Imagine if one billion people used a personal AI agent. That’s a lot of CPUs and memory.” It is a useful description of the potential scale of the workload, not a forecast that one billion people will adopt agents.

What could limit personal-agent adoption?
An agent that can act through email, shopping, credentials, and connected services has a higher trust bar than a chatbot that only returns text. Meta says each user has an isolated virtual machine, credentials are stored in a separate container, and Muse conversation and virtual-machine data are not shared with its ad systems. It also says data may be accessed when needed to support, secure, or operate the service. Sanitized agent trajectories may be used to train models unless users opt out in settings.
Meta’s September 8, 2026 security disclosure also acknowledged that prompt injection remains an open problem and that Muse can make mistakes. The same disclosure described a Confidential VM intended to prevent Meta from accessing the virtual-machine contents as a future feature for later in 2026; it did not establish that this feature was generally available. Trust, safeguards, reliability, and real-world usefulness will all affect whether people use agents consistently. Early publicity or app rankings alone cannot demonstrate durable adoption.
What the evidence says about AMD’s opportunity
- Established: AMD says Meta has deployed millions of EPYC CPUs across its infrastructure and describes a broader collaboration across AI hardware and software.
- Reported, not officially specified by Meta: Tom’s Hardware connects Muse sandboxes to EPYC Turin hosts and reports two CPU cores and 8 GB of memory per sandbox.
- Plausible, not quantified: More agent activity could raise demand for CPUs that handle orchestration, tools, sandboxes, state, and I/O alongside inference.
- Not established: The reviewed sources do not show Muse-driven AMD revenue or orders, identify the supplier of Muse’s inference GPUs, or prove sustained consumer adoption.
The strongest conclusion is therefore strategic rather than financial: personal agents could expand the work performed around AI inference, and AMD is already a significant infrastructure partner to Meta. Whether that possibility becomes a material boost to AMD depends on adoption, infrastructure choices, and disclosed demand that the available evidence does not yet quantify.
