Jaguar’s Type 01 is a four-door, electric-only grand touring car and the first production model built on the company’s new Jaguar Electric Architecture. Unveiled in New York on 6 October 2026, it is a major bet on a redesigned Jaguar identity—but whether that bet succeeds remains to be seen. Jaguar lists a £130,000 starting price, expects orders to open in early 2027 and says deliveries should begin in the second half of 2027.
What is the Jaguar Type 01?
The Type 01 is Jaguar’s new luxury four-door GT, designed as the first production car of a new electric-only era for the brand. Jaguar says it is designed, developed and built in the UK, and that it uses the company’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). The announcement marks a substantial change in direction; it does not, by itself, show whether buyers will embrace the car or the broader brand reset.
Jaguar says the name connects the car to its Type-named heritage, including the C-type, E-type and F-type. “Type” refers to that lineage, “0” represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions, and “1” identifies the first car in a new generation, according to the company. How much will the Type 01 cost, and when can you order it?
Jaguar has announced a starting price of £130,000. The announcement does not establish final prices in other currencies or markets, so buyers outside the UK should wait for local pricing rather than convert the figure and treat it as an official quote. The car is not yet on sale. Jaguar’s product page says final customer models and features may vary before launch, so the equipment and configuration described today should not be treated as a locked production specification. Jaguar Type 01 product page.
What performance and range does Jaguar claim?
Jaguar says the Type 01 will use a tri-motor powertrain producing up to 1,030PS and 1,365Nm of torque. Its claimed 0–62mph time is 3.2 seconds. The company also cites torque vectoring and a 50:50 weight distribution, as well as more than 360 patent applications associated with JEA. The announced battery capacity is 118kWh. Jaguar gives anticipated range estimates of up to 400 miles on the EPA cycle or up to 450 miles (720km) on the WLTP cycle. The estimates are preliminary and precede full certification; the two figures use different testing cycles and should not be read as directly interchangeable or as a promise of real-world driving range.
Jaguar says a 350kW DC charger can add up to 200 miles (321km) in 13 minutes. That is a manufacturer claim under specified charging conditions, not a guarantee that every charger, battery temperature or charging session will deliver the same result. Final certified range and charging performance are not yet established.

What is the cabin like?
Jaguar describes a low roofline, long bonnet and sleek silhouette outside. Inside, the company says a brass-inspired centre spine divides the cabin into distinct spaces for four occupants. The listed technology includes a 24-inch driver display, a 7-inch secondary control screen, a Meridian panoramic soundbar, a ClearSight rear-view display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 5G hotspot.
Jaguar’s current product page also lists standard all-season tyres, optional summer tyres and a choice involving 21-inch all-season wheels or 23-inch wheels. Since the same page warns that final customer equipment may change, these details are announced features rather than a definitive specification for every market or trim.

What does Jaguar’s journey statistic mean?
Jaguar says up to 99.7 per cent of journeys can be completed without interruption. The company attributes that figure to JLR’s CAVA analysis of customer journey data from 920,000 individual JLR vehicles across 51 markets, covering October 2023 to October 2024. It is an analysis of JLR customer data, not a Type 01 road test, and it should not be interpreted as a measured Type 01 range or charging result.

The label is an editorial description of the scale of Jaguar’s change, not a proven verdict on the car’s commercial prospects. The Type 01 combines a new electric platform, premium positioning and a sharp break into a redesigned era for the brand. Its price, launch schedule and headline performance figures are known as Jaguar’s announcements; customer response, final certified specifications and real-world performance are not yet established. A fair assessment will require final market specifications and independent testing after production cars become available.

Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover described it as “a luxury grand tourer for a new era.” The wording captures the intended positioning, but the announced figures and design claims remain the company’s own until independently evaluated.
