In a short, staff-guided demonstration, Digit’s Ashish Singh found the vivo Vision Discovery Edition lighter and more enjoyable than he expected. Gaze-and-pinch controls felt natural to him after a few minutes, and video on a huge virtual screen made the strongest impression. But the demo also brought tight nose fit, warmth and a prescription-setup question into the picture. These are first impressions, not proof of long-session comfort or a complete review.
What this first impression can—and cannot—tell you
Singh’s account is based on a brief demonstration, with staff helping him prepare and fit the headset. It offers a useful glimpse of how the device felt and worked for one person in that setting, but it does not establish how comfortable it is over hours, how it performs across users, or how well its broader software ecosystem holds up. Digit’s first-impression report is the source for the hands-on observations below.
Why the headset felt lighter than expected
Despite its aerospace-grade aluminium frame and glass front, Singh described the Vision as surprisingly light when he wore it. He also noted a two-section rear strap intended to distribute weight. That is his subjective impression, not a weight test or a finding about comfort across different users.
Separately, vivo lists an approximate weight of 398 g for a configuration including the headset, S1 light seal, S1 foam padding and double-loop band. The company says the actual weight varies with accessories, so the figure should not be treated as a measurement of every configuration. vivo’s Malaysia product page also specifies dual Micro-OLED binocular displays with a resolution of 3840 × 3552 × 2 and a 180° panoramic view. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

Gaze and pinch made an immediate impression
In Singh’s demo, selecting an interface element meant looking at it and pinching. Holding a pinch let him do actions such as dragging or swiping. He said the pointer consistently landed on the elements he intended and that he noticed few accidental selections near interface edges. After several minutes, the eye-and-hand interaction felt increasingly intuitive to him.
Those observations describe one person’s short session; they do not establish selection accuracy for other users or in other applications. vivo positions the headset for eye-hand interaction alongside immersive video, spatial photos and videos, gaming and multi-window viewing. Its product page describes transferring 3D photos and videos captured on supported phones, and lists the vivo X200 Ultra, vivo X100 Ultra and iQOO 13 for a supported function. The listed devices and workflows may vary by country or region, so check local compatibility before relying on that feature. vivo Indonesia’s product page gives the use-case and compatibility information.

Video was the most engaging part of the demo
For Singh, watching video on a very large virtual screen was the clearest demonstration of the headset’s appeal. The scale felt more like watching on a theatre screen than looking at a phone, tablet or laptop. That made the session fun, but he cautioned that a short demo does not show whether the Vision could replace a cinema experience.
vivo promotes the experience as visuals that feel like watching on a “120-Foot Screen.” The company defines that as a screen size equivalent at a 100 m viewing distance and notes that perceived size may vary by theme. It is an equivalence claim, not a physical screen measurement. The manufacturer’s product page provides that qualification.

Fit, warmth and prescription setup were real caveats
The demo was not entirely comfortable for Singh. He found the fit tight around his nose and noticed sweat on his face and the padding afterward. He said the demo unit’s relatively thick padding seemed to contribute to heat and pressure. That experience applies to his fit with that demo configuration; it does not establish how other users or other available fit components will feel.
Staff scanned his face, used his prescription details to choose a face mask or light seal, fitted the headset and performed eye-tracking calibration. The setup took time in that assisted demonstration, though Singh noted that an owner’s setup could be simpler. Even after supplying prescription details, he perceived blur. He could not independently verify the fit or prescription calibration, so the blur is not a sound basis for judging display quality.

Where and when the Discovery Edition was available to try
In an announcement dated August 25, 2025, vivo said the Vision Discovery Edition would be available for in-store experiences from August 22 at selected vivo stores in major Chinese cities, with reservations through vivo’s official platforms. The announcement asked international users to follow future updates about market expansion. It establishes initial demo access in China, not current broad retail availability elsewhere. vivo’s announcement does not establish a current price, worldwide retail availability or Amazon stock.
For a purchase decision, first confirm whether the headset is officially available in your market and whether your intended phone workflow is supported there. If you can try it in person, pay particular attention to nose pressure, heat and how your prescription is handled; one short demo cannot answer how it will feel during extended use.
