What happened to Meesho shares on October 6?
Business Standard reported that Meesho shares had risen about 10% over the preceding two trading days. In October 6 intraday trading, it reported a BSE price of ₹240.40, up 5%. By 1:39 p.m., 25.28 million shares had traded across the NSE and BSE combined. The article also reported a 5.4% gain to ₹238.60 at that time, while the Sensex was up 0.75%. These are intraday figures from October 6, not closing prices.

Moneycontrol separately said the stock reached ₹240.50 on the NSE during Tuesday’s session, up 6.19%. That exchange-specific high and Business Standard’s BSE observation reflect different exchanges and observation times; they should not be combined as if they were one quote. Business Standard’s October 6 market report and Moneycontrol’s October 6 report describe the dated session.
What update was associated with the rally?
Reports linked the share-price move with Meesho’s update that content-commerce NMV grew 152% year over year. The company also reported more than 160,000 active creators supporting the content-commerce ecosystem over the preceding 12 months. NMV is an operating metric, not revenue. The reports establish that the update and rally occurred around the same time; they do not demonstrate that the update alone caused the price move.

Creator and order mix reported by the company
Business Standard and Moneycontrol relayed the following figures from Meesho’s update:
- About 90% of active content-commerce creators were nano-creators, and 81% were from non-metro India.
- Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities accounted for 66% of content-commerce orders. Business Standard cited Varanasi, Agartala, Jabalpur and Madurai as examples.
- Moneycontrol reported that homemakers made up 40% of active creators; young graduates made up 30%, or around 50,000 creators. It also reported that 78% of active homemaker creators were from non-metro India and that 25% of active creators were first-timers.
These are company-reported operating figures relayed by the outlets, not independent measurements. The reports point to broad participation outside major metros, but the figures alone do not show how that participation translates into future profit or share performance.

What did Jefferies forecast, and what risks did it identify?
Business Standard relayed Jefferies’ view that Meesho management expected 25% annual NMV growth over the next five years, supported by user growth, order frequency and logistics efficiencies. Jefferies forecast a 25% NMV compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and a 28% revenue CAGR for FY26–30. These are attributed expectations and brokerage forecasts, not guaranteed outcomes.
Jefferies’ reported valuation used 1.4 times estimated September 2028 NMV to arrive at a ₹240 target price. This is a brokerage valuation assumption, not a market price or a promise of where the shares will trade. The same report flagged high cash-on-delivery usage, logistics disruption, regulatory headwinds and macroeconomic headwinds as risks to the outlook.
