This is a selection of five tools from Harbor Freight’s seven-item laser-level category, not the only models the retailer sells. The category also lists a BAUER 30 ft. cross-line laser and a BAUER tripod. Specifications and prices below are Harbor Freight’s published claims and observed listings, not independent test results. Choose by the layout job
Use the 360° BAUER for a horizontal reference around a room
The 50 ft. model is the choice when you need a horizontal line spanning the room rather than a line limited to the tool’s immediate direction. Harbor Freight lists uses including general leveling, alignment, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC. It also offers a single vertical line mode and a manual mode for angled applications. The stated 50 ft. is indoor visibility; Harbor Freight gives accuracy as ±3/16 in. at 33 ft. and says outdoor use is not recommended.
Choose the 40 ft. cross-line for selectable line patterns
For ductwork, trim, or general alignment, the 40 ft. BAUER can select horizontal, vertical, cross, or angled lines. It self-levels and has a visual out-of-level indicator. Harbor Freight lists ±3/16 in. accuracy but does not attach a distance to that figure in the product description summarized here. This is a cross-line tool, not a 360° room-coverage model, and outdoor use is not recommended.

Use the 3-dot model to transfer points
The 100 ft. BAUER projects switchable horizontal or vertical dots, making it a different kind of layout tool from a line laser. Dots can suit alignment or transfer tasks when you need to carry a reference point across a space rather than follow a continuous line. Harbor Freight states visibility up to 100 ft. and ±3/16 in. accuracy at 33 ft.; the page says its tall profile helps dots clear common obstructions. Outdoor use is not recommended.
Pick the tile/flooring laser for squaring a floor layout
The 16 ft. BAUER projects two perpendicular lines to align and square a layout at 90° with one-button setup. Ruled marking lines on the body and dual leveling vials support positioning. Its range is much shorter than the other laser-level picks, so it is a task-specific choice for tile or flooring rather than a general long-range reference. Harbor Freight recommends indoor use.

Choose PITTSBURGH when angle and slope readings matter
The 24 in. PITTSBURGH combines a physical level with a digital angle finder and laser projections: a dot, horizontal or vertical lines, and crosshairs. Harbor Freight describes it as ideal for indoor, short-range work. Its page lists ±0.3% for angle (degrees) and ±0.5 mm per meter for slope (percent); the specifications also list ±0.5 mm per meter. These are separate published statements, not one interchangeable accuracy figure. The retailer marks this model in-store only, so availability depends on location.

- Confirm the required pattern before choosing: a continuous cross-line, 360° horizontal coverage, transferable dots, perpendicular square-layout lines, and angle-finding projections are not substitutes for one another.
- Compare a stated visibility range with the distance attached to an accuracy figure. For example, the 50 ft. and 100 ft. models state accuracy at 33 ft.; their visibility figures do not mean that same accuracy is specified across the full visibility range.
- Respect the indoor-use limitations: Harbor Freight says the 50 ft., 40 ft., and 100 ft. BAUER models are not recommended outdoors, and recommends the tile/flooring laser for indoor use.
- Before mounting a laser to a tripod, confirm the interface. Harbor Freight’s BAUER tripod listing says it works with BAUER laser levels and devices with a standard 1/4 in. x 20 thread. The tripod has a bubble level and adjusts from 23-1/2 in. to 59 in.; it is listed at $36.99.
- Follow the product’s laser safety cautions. Harbor Freight identifies these products as Class II lasers and advises avoiding direct eye exposure.
