Resellers and managed service providers (MSPs) can respond to fast-changing technology by shifting from one-off hardware sales toward integrated solutions, specialist advice, and ongoing managed services. An ITPro industry insight by Anton Shelepchuk, published September 7, 2026, identifies AI, hybrid infrastructure, cybersecurity, data protection, and data sovereignty as areas where partners may be able to build those services. These are strategic opportunities, not guaranteed growth or quantified forecasts.
Why the channel opportunity is changing
Customers are combining technologies and obligations that are difficult to manage as isolated purchases: AI initiatives, systems spanning edge locations and cloud, rising security needs, and questions about where data is stored or processed. Shelepchuk’s ITPro article argues that this complexity creates room for partners to offer design, integration, and continuing operations rather than act only as conventional resellers. The article does not quantify the size of the opportunity or establish how quickly demand is growing.
For a partner, the practical shift is from asking only what technology a customer should buy to defining who will integrate it, monitor it, secure it, maintain it, and help recover it when something goes wrong. Each service area has different skills and operational responsibilities, so growth depends on delivery capability as much as on product access.
Where partners can build services
AI integration and automation
The article points to AI integration, IT operations automation, AI monitoring, and applying intelligence to data protection. A partner can frame this as implementation plus ongoing support: connecting AI capabilities to a customer’s environment, helping operate them, and monitoring relevant systems. The source does not specify a service blueprint, provider, price, or demonstrated customer outcome, so partners should define scope and measurable responsibilities for each engagement rather than imply results that have not been established.

Hybrid infrastructure management
Customers may need systems to work across edge computing, on-premises infrastructure, and public or hybrid cloud. The article highlights data mobility, unified management, real-time analytics, visibility, and cost control as related needs. An MSP considering this area should make its operating model explicit: which environments it will monitor, how it will handle security and backup across them, how support is coordinated, and who owns integration and incident response. There is no named reference architecture or product comparison in the article.
Security, resilience, and recovery
Potential service categories include managed detection and response, ransomware protection, compliance solutions, cyber recovery, backup-as-a-service, and broader data protection. These offerings are not interchangeable. Before packaging or evaluating one, establish the coverage provided, recovery objectives, response responsibilities, integrations, data location, applicable regulatory scope, and service levels. The ITPro article identifies these categories as opportunities but does not rank providers or establish comparative effectiveness.

Data sovereignty and localized control
The article connects sovereignty concerns with demand for sovereign AI consulting, regional hosting, and cross-border compliance advice. In general terms, data sovereignty concerns how laws and regulations apply to data based on where it is stored or processed. A hosting location alone does not settle compliance: obligations can depend on jurisdiction, data type, service, and the roles of the organizations involved. Partners can help customers identify the questions and technical implications, but should involve qualified legal and technical advisers for jurisdiction-specific conclusions. The article supplies no jurisdiction-specific legal analysis.
Storage and data protection
AI and analytics can increase the importance of managing data across storage tiers. The article describes placing frequently accessed data on higher-performance storage and archival data on lower-cost tiers, with analytics and monitoring helping organizations manage placement and avoid over-provisioning. This creates potential work in storage integration, data protection, and ongoing monitoring. The article names no storage products, capacities, benchmarks, or purchase specifications.

Compare service opportunities by delivery burden
The following comparison organizes the categories raised in the article around practical planning questions. The operational considerations are a decision aid, not a ranking or a claim that the source measured partner capabilities.
| Service area | Customer need addressed | Partner capability to plan for | Ongoing responsibility to clarify | Key exposure to assess |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI integration and automation | Connect AI capabilities to operations, monitoring, or data protection. | AI environment integration and operational expertise. | Monitoring, maintenance, and the boundary between implementation and ongoing support. | Skills gaps and complexity across AI environments. |
| Hybrid infrastructure management | Coordinate edge, on-premises, and cloud systems with visibility and cost control. | Hybrid architecture, integration, monitoring, security, and backup. | Coverage across environments, support ownership, and incident coordination. | Integration difficulty, limited visibility, and tool or licensing complexity. |
| Security, resilience, and recovery | Detect and respond to threats, protect data, and restore operations. | Security operations, backup, recovery, and compliance knowledge. | Response duties, recovery objectives, service levels, and escalation. | Regulatory scope, data location, and unclear responsibility during incidents. |
| Sovereignty and localized control | Understand data location, jurisdiction, and cross-border concerns. | Regional infrastructure knowledge and ability to coordinate qualified advice. | Hosting and processing arrangements, plus any continuing compliance support. | Jurisdiction-specific obligations; location by itself may not resolve them. |

What can slow adoption
Shelepchuk’s article identifies several qualitative barriers: shortages of expertise in hybrid systems, compliance, and AI environments; longer sales cycles; cautious budgets, particularly outside the enterprise segment; and complexity in tools, partner programs, and licensing. These are observations in the article, not independently measured prevalence rates or proof of a single cause.

For partners, the implication is to avoid treating every technology trend as an immediate service launch. A new offering needs a defined customer problem, people able to deliver it, and a workable support model. Longer sales cycles and tighter budgets can make clear scope and understandable value particularly important, while licensing and tool complexity can add friction before delivery even begins.

When assessing a vendor relationship, a partner can ask whether training addresses the skills its service requires, whether tools integrate with the environments it must support, whether licensing can accommodate a recurring-service model, and whether the vendor will help with customer-facing delivery. Those questions connect vendor support to operational viability rather than treating a partner program as a label.
Build the opportunity around a deliverable service
The central strategic choice is not simply which technology trend to follow. It is whether a partner can turn a customer need into a service with clear scope, accountable operations, and skills to sustain it. AI, hybrid management, security and recovery, sovereignty advice, and storage protection all appear in the ITPro article as potential areas, but none is presented there as a guaranteed market or universal fit.
