Steam lists the game for October 6, 2026, but captured store information conflicts about whether it had unlocked; check the live Steam listing for current availability.
What is Olympus 2249?
Olympus 2249 is an isometric, single-player role-playing game built around turn-based combat, dialogue choices, and character development. Its setting is a post-nuclear version of America with a dieselpunk aesthetic. Steam describes a world where decisions can affect conversations, quests, and access to factions.
The game is presented as a standalone story rather than a requirement to play Olympus 2207 or own Fallout 2. iXBT reports that Dieselship Studio is associated with Olympus 2207, a global modification built on the Fallout 2 engine, and says returning players may notice references in the new game. Steam identifies Dieselship Studio as developer and publisher but does not itself describe that history. iXBT’s October 5 report is the source for the connection and callbacks.
Is Olympus 2249 available on Steam?
Steam lists October 6, 2026 as the release date and labels the game Early Access. However, the captured store page also showed a “not yet available” notice and an unlock countdown, while an October 6 iXBT search-result report said the game had appeared on Steam. Those snapshots do not establish its current purchase status. Use the live Steam page to confirm whether it is currently available in your region.

How do character choices and combat work?
Karmic Types and consequences
At the start, players choose one of five Karmic Types. According to the Steam description, type and later changes in karma influence how people react, which dialogue options appear, and what quests or opportunities become available. The store also says conversations and non-combat specializations can affect faction access and provide alternative solutions to problems.
Turn-based encounters
Combat is tactical and turn-based. The store description highlights positioning, aimed attacks, and abilities that use stamina, along with environmental elements such as fuel barrels, oil spills, electricity, and traps. It also describes stealth, crafting, hazardous conditions, armor, dismemberment, and some procedural enemies and loot. These are features as described by the developer on Steam, not independently verified performance or gameplay findings.

Navigation and exploration
In its October 5 report, iXBT says the developers intend players to navigate by listening to characters rather than following yellow-painted objects or glowing route trails. The report also describes conversation notes saved in an organizer, city fast-travel points, compact locations that may span multiple levels, hidden caches, and quest outcomes that can affect individual or faction reputation. This is secondary reporting based on a developer video diary, not hands-on verification. Read the iXBT report.
What does the Early Access version include?
Dieselship Studio says the Early Access build includes the planned systems and mechanics plus the first of three intended story acts. The developer estimates that this is about one quarter of the story and that a playthrough will take roughly 3–7 hours, depending on build, playstyle, and side quests. These are estimates, not a guaranteed amount of content or playtime. The developer also says it plans to add locations, factions, quests, characters, and items, alongside balance and quality-of-life changes. It expects Early Access to last roughly 18–24 months, with timing subject to player feedback and development progress. The studio says it plans gradual price increases as content grows. Other Steam and content notes
The listing identifies single-player play, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. Its mature-content notice mentions frequent violence, blood and gore, visible injuries and dismemberment, crime, and other mature themes.
The store’s AI disclosure says tools were used to check visual concepts, translate text into some languages, and create music placeholders. It says the materials are significantly reworked by humans and that the studio plans to replace placeholder music with original compositions and have translations reviewed by human editors by release. These are the developer’s stated plans.

Who may want to keep an eye on it?
Olympus 2249 may interest players looking for a choice-driven, turn-based cRPG with environmental combat and a setting distinct from fantasy. Before deciding whether its current Early Access build fits, check the live Steam page for availability, the listed languages and requirements, and the developer’s estimate of story scope. Players familiar with Olympus 2207 may also be interested in the reported references, but the new game is described as standalone.
