The best Shopify video app depends on what you want the video to do. For shoppable reels and user-generated content, compare Whatmore, ReelMe, PlayShorts, Tolstoy, My Stories, and Videowise; for customer video reviews, consider Reviewers.com; for AI-generated product clips, look at Vidoo. These are a use-case shortlist, not an independently tested ranking. Shopify also supports product videos natively, so you may not need an app just to add a video to a product page.
Which Shopify video app fits your goal?
“Product video app” can mean a few different things: displaying shoppable clips, collecting customer reviews, or making video assets. Start with the task, then check whether an app supports your content source, storefront placement, shopping actions, and operating limits.

Best for shoppable videos and social clips
Whatmore Shoppable Videos&Reel
Consider Whatmore if your goal is a storefront carousel or slider featuring shoppable video, including Reels or TikTok content. Before installing, check which social sources it currently imports, whether products can be tagged, and where the widget can appear in your theme. The category description establishes the carousel, slider, and social-content angle, but not plan limits or sales impact.
#1 Best Overall
ReelMe: Shoppable Video Reels
ReelMe is a candidate if you want to present product-tagged reels in more than one format. Its listing describes carousel, stories, grid, and popup placements. Confirm that those layouts are available on your current plan and work on mobile in your theme.
PlayShorts Shoppable Video UGC
PlayShorts is listed for shoppable video and UGC. It may suit a store that wants customer or social-style video connected to products; verify supported sources, product tagging, and the exact path from a clip to a product or cart in the current app listing.
Rank #2
Tolstoy: Shoppable Video & UGC
Tolstoy is another listed option for shoppable video and UGC. Its own comparison discusses additional areas such as content import, widget placement, library management, analytics, and pricing models. Because that comparison is published by Tolstoy and ranks its own product first, treat it as a checklist of features to investigate rather than independent evidence that Tolstoy is superior.
Videowise
Videowise appears in Tolstoy’s comparison as an option for larger libraries and multiple placements. That is a vendor-comparison lead, not a neutral head-to-head finding. Check Videowise’s current Shopify listing for supported placements, library limits, reporting, and pricing before deciding whether it fits your store.
Rank #3
My Stories – Video UGC & Leads
My Stories is listed for story-format video and leads. It is worth investigating if you want a story-style presentation or a lead-generation workflow rather than only a product-page reel carousel. Confirm how leads are captured and where story content can be displayed.
Best for collecting customer video reviews
Reviewers.com – Video Reviews
Reviewers.com is the shortlist’s distinct review-collection option: its Shopify listing positions it around video reviews. That is a different job from importing existing social clips and adding product tags. Before selecting it, check how customers submit videos, how reviews are moderated and displayed, and whether the review widget fits your product pages.
Rank #4
Best for making product videos with AI
Vidoo – AI Product Video Maker
Vidoo is listed as an automated AI product-video maker. Consider it when the bottleneck is producing video assets, rather than displaying existing clips or gathering customer submissions. Confirm what inputs it needs, what output formats and usage rights apply, and whether the generated files can be used in your intended Shopify theme placements; those details are not established by the category description.
Do you need an app to add product video to Shopify?
No—not necessarily. Shopify lets merchants upload product videos or embed YouTube and Vimeo URLs. Its Help Center documents uploads up to 10 minutes, 1 GB, and 4K resolution, with MP4, MOV, or WEBM inputs; uploaded MOV and WEBM files are converted to MP4 or HLS for customers. Your theme must support video media for it to display. Shopify Help Center: product media types

Product media can appear on product pages or be managed with metafields, but a compatible theme is needed to display video; otherwise, theme modification may be required. Shopify Help Center: displaying metafields in your online store
Native media may be enough for a straightforward product demonstration. An app is more relevant when you need a shoppable feed, social-content workflow, review capture, or a specialized video library. Decide based on the workflow you actually need, not the assumption that every product page requires an app.

- Content source: Can you use existing Instagram or TikTok clips, upload files, collect customer videos, or generate content? Do not assume every app supports all sources.
- Placement and shopping actions: Check whether video can appear on product pages, collections, or the homepage, and whether the app supports product tags or add-to-cart actions where you need them.
- Limits and pricing: Confirm current upload, view, impression, bandwidth, or library limits, along with whether pricing is fixed, usage-based, or custom. App plans and terms can change.
- Measurement: Find out whether reporting covers views, clicks, add-to-cart activity, or attributed revenue. Views alone do not establish that video caused sales.
- Storefront fit: Preview the app in your theme on mobile and desktop. Check page behavior, accessibility, and load impact before rolling it out broadly.
- Evidence behind claims: App Store descriptions and ratings are useful for finding candidates, not proof of superior quality or conversion performance. No independent common-condition comparison is established for these eight options.
In the captured Shopify App Store listing, ratings were Whatmore 4.9 from 379 reviews, ReelMe 5.0 from 9, Reviewers.com 4.6 from 13, Vidoo 4.4 from 11, PlayShorts 5.0 from 95, Tolstoy 4.7 from 279, and My Stories 5.0 from 25. These are a listing snapshot, not a quality ranking; check the current listings because ratings and review counts change. Shopify App Store video category
A simple way to pilot video on your store
- Choose one job: Decide whether you are displaying shoppable clips, collecting reviews, or producing new videos.
- Check native Shopify media first: If you only need a video on a product page, test Shopify’s built-in upload or YouTube/Vimeo embedding with a video-compatible theme.
- Shortlist by workflow: Compare only apps that support your content source and desired placement; confirm current plan limits and integrations on the listing.
- Test in a theme preview: Add a small number of videos, inspect mobile and desktop layouts, and check accessibility and page behavior before publishing sitewide.
- Measure the action you care about: Track more than views if the app provides click, add-to-cart, or revenue attribution data. Treat observed changes cautiously; a pilot does not by itself prove that video caused them.
Do you need special equipment to make product videos?
No. Shopify Help Center says professional-level equipment is not required for good results. A smartphone can be enough; a tripod is an optional aid for stability, especially with manual settings or low light. Shopify notes that a phone positioned in front of a large window may not need one.
