On supported phones, open Phone > More options > Settings > Scam detection to check whether it is available and enabled. The warning is a prompt to pause and verify—not a guarantee that a call is safe or fraudulent.
What Samsung Scam Detection does
When the feature identifies a potential scam call, it alerts you so you can decide whether to answer or block the call. Samsung’s U.S. support guide also says users can adjust the alert tone and vibration. It does not take the decision away from you, and no published detection or false-positive rate establishes how often the system gets a call right.
The name can refer to different implementations. Samsung’s U.S. support documentation describes a built-in Galaxy setting for phones running Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher. Google describes an on-device Gemini-powered implementation in the Samsung Phone app on Galaxy S26 devices. Samsung has also described a separate Korean voice-phishing alert. Their availability and technical details should not be treated as interchangeable.
Check availability and turn it on or off
Samsung’s U.S. guide specifies Android 16 and One UI 8.5 or later for the configuration it covers. Google’s February 25, 2026 announcement identifies Scam Detection in the Samsung Phone app on Galaxy S26, initially in English in the United States. Samsung’s September 16, 2026 One UI 9 announcement named Japan, Canada, and India for expansion, while noting that support depends on region, language, model, and software. These details can change with updates; the setting on your phone is the practical check.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More options (the three-dot menu), then Settings.
- Tap Scam detection.
- Check the switch and turn the feature on or off. If available, adjust the tone and vibration on the same screen.
Samsung’s U.S. guide says the switch is on by default for the supported configuration it documents. Google’s broader February 2026 description says its Scam Detection is off by default. Because those descriptions concern different devices or software configurations, do not assume a universal default—check your phone’s setting.
How the described implementations differ
| Implementation | Devices and rollout | How it works and what the user sees |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung U.S. support-guide feature | Samsung’s U.S. guide specifies Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher; availability is subject to supported device and software. | Samsung says the phone alerts you to a potential scam call. You can choose to block or answer, and adjust tone and vibration. |
| Google Scam Detection in Samsung Phone | Google named Galaxy S26 devices at launch, initially in English in the U.S., in its February 25, 2026 announcement. Samsung later named Japan, Canada, and India for One UI 9 expansion, subject to region, language, model, and software. | Google says an on-device Gemini model can issue an instant audio and haptic alert during a call it identifies as potentially fraudulent. Calls with people in contacts are automatically excluded. |
| Samsung Korean voice-phishing alert | Samsung Korea announced the feature on August 21, 2025, for Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, with an intended extension to phones running One UI 8 or later. | Samsung described on-device analysis of calls from unknown numbers and two escalating warning levels. This is a distinct Korean implementation, not evidence of the Galaxy S26 feature’s detection performance. |
Privacy: what Google says about Galaxy S26
For the Galaxy S26 Scam Detection implementation, Google says analysis happens entirely on the device and call audio is processed ephemerally. Google says neither conversation audio nor a transcription is recorded, stored on the device, or sent to Google or third parties. Google also says calls involving people in your contacts are automatically excluded. These are Google’s claims about that implementation; they should not be generalized to other Samsung call-filtering or messaging features.

The available official descriptions do not report a measured detection rate, false-positive rate, independent effectiveness trial, or guarantee. A warning is a reason to slow down, not proof by itself. If a caller claims to represent a bank, government office, or company, end the call and contact that organization using a number or channel you already trust. Do not rely on caller ID or on the absence of an alert to establish that a call is legitimate.

Samsung Korea cited about 30,000 voice-phishing data samples from 2024, supplied by the Korean National Police Agency and National Forensic Service, as training data for its separate Korean feature. Samsung also cited Korean National Police Agency figures of about 12,000 voice-phishing cases and about KRW 640 billion in losses in the first half of 2025. Those figures describe the Korean context and the distinct feature; they are not a Galaxy S26 Scam Detection test result.
Samsung reported that its separate “Intelligence-based blocking” feature had blocked more than 100 million malicious spam messages through July 2025. That is a spam-filtering tally, not a measure of Scam Detection’s call-warning accuracy.
