Some TCL NXTPAPER devices look promising for comic readers, but they are not E Ink readers—and the best fit depends on whether you want a large page, a portable phone, or the most vivid artwork. TCL specifically describes the 14.3-inch NXTPAPER 14’s Color Paper mode for graphic novels and manga; a TechRadar reviewer also found the NXTPAPER 70 Pro’s mode worked well for comics.
What “paper-like” means on a TCL NXTPAPER device
NXTPAPER is a display approach, not a synonym for E Ink. TCL’s US specifications identify the NXTPAPER 11 Gen 2 as an IPS LCD. TCL describes paper-like display effects and reading modes, but the screen remains an LCD rather than an electronic-paper panel. TCL USA’s NXTPAPER 11 Gen 2 specifications and TCL’s NXTPAPER 11 product page are useful references for the distinction.
That matters for comics: NXTPAPER offers color and conventional tablet or phone functionality, while its reading modes alter the viewing experience. The available evidence does not establish a tested ranking of NXTPAPER against E Ink for comic reading.
Which TCL NXTPAPER is best suited to comics?
NXTPAPER 14: the large-screen option
TCL lists the NXTPAPER 14 with a 14.3-inch 2.4K display and explicitly presents Color Paper mode for graphic novels, manga comics, and magazines. It also describes Ink Paper mode for text-heavy reading. These are TCL’s feature descriptions, not independent measurements of how well pages render. The cited product page is TCL Asia, so confirm local availability and configuration before buying. See TCL’s NXTPAPER 14 page.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A larger screen can give a comic page more room than a phone display, which may be useful for full-page layouts. However, the cited specifications do not include a controlled page-readability comparison, so screen size alone cannot establish which device will be clearest for your preferred comics.
NXTPAPER 11 Gen 2: a smaller tablet option
TCL USA lists the 128GB/8GB NXTPAPER 11 Gen 2 with an 11-inch, 1920 × 1200 IPS LCD running at 60 Hz, plus an 8,000mAh battery. Its US store listing says the package includes the tablet, a stylus, and a flip case. The page showed a $199.49 sale price against a listed regular price of $289.99 when accessed in 2026; that is a dated US-store snapshot, not a guaranteed current or universal price. Check TCL USA’s product page for current details.

It is a possible compromise if you want a tablet but not the NXTPAPER 14’s larger format. The cited page establishes its size and resolution, but does not make the same explicit comics-and-manga use claim as TCL’s NXTPAPER 14 page.
NXTPAPER 70 Pro: comics on a phone
TechRadar’s 2026 review lists the NXTPAPER 70 Pro with a 6.9-inch, 120 Hz display. The reviewer used Marvel Unlimited and reported that Color Paper mode worked well for comics, while personally preferring the default display mode for more vibrant color. That is one reviewer’s experience with this phone, not a controlled comparison or a guarantee that every reader will prefer the same mode. Read TechRadar’s NXTPAPER 70 Pro review.

A phone is convenient when you want comics with you, but its smaller canvas means less page area than either tablet listed above. The review listed a starting price of $379.99 in the US and £269 in the UK for its 256GB model; confirm current local pricing before purchase.
NXTPAPER 60 Ultra: reading-focused phone, without a specific comics claim
TCL describes the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra as having a 7.2-inch display and Max Ink Mode. Its product page says the mode provides access to 200 free titles, with additional books available from a bookstore; that title count is a vendor-stated library figure, not an independent statistic. TCL’s 2025 IFA announcement also discusses book importing and reading tools. These sources support a general reading use case, but do not specifically establish comic-reading performance for this model. TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra product details · TCL Europe’s 2025 announcement

How to choose for your comic-reading habits
- Choose by page area: Compare the 14.3-inch NXTPAPER 14, the 11-inch NXTPAPER 11 Gen 2, and the 6.9-inch NXTPAPER 70 Pro against how much of a page you want visible at once. The sizes come from different product pages and a review; they are not a controlled readability test.
- Choose by color preference: If vivid artwork is your priority, try the default display mode as well as Color Paper. TechRadar’s reviewer preferred default mode for more vibrant color on the 70 Pro; preferences may differ by reader and comic.
- Check the app and format: Confirm that your preferred comics service or files work on the device and display in the way you expect. The cited review documents one reviewer using Marvel Unlimited on the 70 Pro, not compatibility testing across every app or model.
- Consider portability and responsiveness: A phone is easier to carry; a larger tablet offers more screen area. The cited specifications give refresh rates for the 11 Gen 2 (60 Hz) and 70 Pro (120 Hz), but do not compare their comic-reading responsiveness.
- Check the actual local offer: Availability, configurations, included accessories, and prices can vary by region, retailer, and time. Verify the exact model and package before purchase.
What TCL’s eye-comfort claims do—and do not—show
TCL describes NXTPAPER display features and certifications in its 2025 NXTPAPER White Paper. Those manufacturer statements should not be treated as proof that the devices prevent eye strain or produce a particular health outcome. The cited material does not provide an independent comparative statistic about comic readers’ comfort, eye strain, or NXTPAPER versus E Ink performance.
