At launch, the company announced a $400 million strategic funding commitment from W Group and a stated $1 billion valuation. Those are reported announcement terms: the available coverage does not clarify how much of the commitment is cash or when funding will be available, and it does not show that contributors are already earning money.
What SignSplit says it does
SignSplit describes its approach as “signed data”: human contributions carry information about their origin, consent and permitted uses. The company says contributors can sign datasets, likenesses, voices or other work, then participate in pools assembled for particular organizational needs. Companies may create pools for data or skills they seek; research pools are described for universities and life-sciences firms. SignSplit also describes a verification layer intended to check whether data or a likeness is signed and which conditions apply. These are product descriptions reported at launch, not independent validation of how well the system works. (SiliconANGLE; VentureCapital.com)
SiliconANGLE summarized the pitch to contributors as “sign the data and split the value.” That is the company’s slogan as reported by the outlet, not a promise that every user will be paid or that any particular income is likely. The launch coverage does not explain how compensation would be calculated, collected or distributed.
Can people get paid for their data or voice?
SignSplit says its model is intended to connect contributions with compensation when organizations use them. But the launch reports do not establish contributor earnings, payment formulas, current participation levels or examples of completed paid uses. Someone considering sharing a voice, likeness or dataset should first look for the actual license terms: what material is covered, who may use it, for what purposes, for how long, and how payment is triggered. The reports do not establish those details or show that the platform guarantees consent or fair payment.

Who invested, and what does the $400 million figure mean?
SignSplit’s launch coverage names W Group as its strategic investor. SiliconANGLE reported that W Group comprises 11 financial technology firms. Reports in October 2026 gave the strategic funding or seed commitment as $400 million and the associated stated valuation as $1 billion. They do not resolve how much of the commitment is cash versus other strategic resources, or when funds will be available; the $400 million should not be read as a confirmed cash payment. These figures come from launch coverage, not independently audited filings in the reporting reviewed. (SiliconANGLE; VentureCapital.com; FinSMEs)
SiliconANGLE and VentureCapital.com report that SignSplit was established in 2024. The company’s co-founder and CEO, Alessandro Monterosso, said the service could bridge human contribution and technology through “protection, participation and compensation.” W Group founder and President Volodymyr Nosov said he believes AI and data-economy participants will rely on the infrastructure. Both comments are interested-party views; they do not establish adoption, customer demand or market-wide consensus. (SiliconANGLE)

What the launch coverage does—and does not—establish
The reports describe intended user groups that include individual contributors, organizations, universities, life-sciences firms, researchers, media, and AI and robotics developers. They do not name AI developer customers or establish commercial deployments, revenue, technical benchmarks or independent security testing. That describes what is disclosed in the launch coverage, not proof that no such evidence exists elsewhere.
Before treating the proposal as a working route to licensing income, prospective users and organizations would need answers to several practical questions:
