If Alexa keeps repeating “la la la,” reports published October 5, 2026 say Amazon identified it as a bug affecting a small number of Alexa Plus users and was implementing a fix. The cause and release date were not disclosed, and there is no evidence that an Echo speaker is physically broken.
What is happening when Alexa repeats “la la la”?
Users have reported Alexa getting stuck repeating “la,” sometimes for several minutes. Android Authority said on October 5, 2026 that Amazon had confirmed the behavior was a bug affecting “a small number of Alexa Plus” users and was working on a fix. That is a qualitative scope description, not a published count or percentage.
The report did not identify the cause, affected devices, geographic scope, or a timetable for the fix. Some users speculated that an update was responsible, but the available reporting did not establish that connection. The statement also should not be read as evidence that every Echo speaker or Alexa service is affected. Android Authority’s report and update are the source for Amazon’s reported confirmation.
What should you try if it happens?
Amazon was reported to be implementing a software-side fix, but no incident-specific workaround was confirmed. If the behavior is disrupting your device, you can try basic Echo troubleshooting; these are general support steps, not verified fixes for this bug.

- Restart the Echo. Unplug it, wait briefly, then reconnect it and see whether the behavior stops.
- Check the Alexa app. Make sure the app is current.
- Check Wi-Fi. Confirm the Echo is connected to your network and that the connection is working normally.

Is “la la la” a normal Alexa phrase?
Amazon’s Alexa Skills Kit documentation lists “la la la” as an expressive phrase that a skill can pronounce. That explains one way the phrase exists in Alexa’s speech system, but there is no evidence linking the documentation or a particular skill to this incident. Amazon’s Spanish speechcon reference is contextual documentation, not an explanation of the bug.
Is your Echo broken, and should you replace it?
The reported issue was described as a software bug, not a hardware failure. The available reporting gives no evidence that replacing an Echo, buying an accessory, upgrading Wi-Fi equipment, or purchasing repair tools would address it. If the device has other, separate faults, those would need to be assessed on their own.

- Reported: Amazon told Android Authority the bug affected a small number of Alexa Plus users and that it was implementing a fix.
- Not established: the technical cause, the role of any software update, a numerical count, specific devices, geography, or when the fix would arrive.
- Not a confirmed workaround: restarting the Echo, updating the app, and checking Wi-Fi are generic troubleshooting suggestions rather than proven remedies for this incident.
