Fizz can be a strong fit if you live in its subscription area, have reliable service where you use your phone most, and want a prepaid plan you can customize. It is not automatically a nationwide option: your address, selected coverage, partner-network use, phone compatibility, and current local price all matter.
Where Fizz is available—and what “coverage” means
Fizz lists mobile service in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia. Living in one of those provinces does not by itself guarantee eligibility: you must also live in the subscription area to sign up. Check your address on Fizz’s coverage map before switching.
Fizz distinguishes the subscription area, where a customer must live to join, from the coverage area included with a plan. Its plans can offer provincial coverage, Canada-wide coverage, or Canada-and-U.S. coverage. A provincial plan does not make calls, texts, or data outside its selected area automatically included; check the plan details and any applicable add-ons. A coverage change takes effect at the start of the next payment cycle, according to Fizz’s coverage FAQ.
Why the prepaid plan can be appealing
Fizz presents its plans as prepaid and customizable, with no contract, no activation fee, and the ability to change a plan. That can suit someone who wants to adjust their service without committing to a long-term contract. The exact plan options and terms can change, so check the current offer in your province rather than relying on a single Canada-wide price.

Data rollover and gifting
Fizz says unused data can roll over and remain available during the current month and the next two months. It also promotes data gifting. Review the current plan terms for eligibility and how each feature works; rollover can be useful, but it does not replace choosing a plan that fits your normal usage. Details appear on Fizz’s data rollover page.
Compare the actual monthly cost
Fizz’s plan pages use configurable choices, and offers and rates may differ by province and change without notice. Compare plans with the same data, calling, texting, and geographic coverage, and include taxes and any promotion that applies to you. The advertised starting price is not a substitute for comparing the plan you would actually buy.

Understand coverage outside Fizz’s network
When Fizz’s network is unavailable, a compatible phone may connect to a partner network; the display can show “Fizz EXT.” Fizz says the phone connects to its network first and describes partner coverage as intended for occasional use. Most usage must stay on the Fizz network within the subscription area. Fizz says it may restrict or suspend partner access after three consecutive billing periods in which usage is primarily on partner networks. See its coverage and partner-network FAQ for the current terms.
This distinction matters if you live or work somewhere that regularly relies on a partner network. A plan that appears usable in a location is not necessarily intended to support most of your service there. Check the map and consider where your calls, texts, and data will actually occur before choosing Fizz.

Travel in Canada, the U.S., and elsewhere
If you travel beyond your provincial plan’s included area, compare the cost and conditions of changing to a Canada-wide or Canada-and-U.S. plan with the relevant add-on. Fizz says a plan change for Canada-and-U.S. coverage must be made in advance. U.S. calling can depend on the network available at your destination, and VoLTE certification is needed where only LTE is available. Consult Fizz’s plan and coverage information before travel.
For other destinations, Fizz describes fixed-price travel add-ons that activate when purchased and remain valid through the current and next payment cycle. Destination terms can differ, so check the current details on Fizz Travel add-ons before relying on an add-on abroad.

Check 5G availability and phone compatibility
Fizz says 5G is available in several Canadian urban areas and 5G+ in certain areas, but 5G is not yet available in Manitoba. Availability is location-specific; verify your address on the live map rather than assuming a province-wide or city-wide experience. Fizz also notes that the network icon shown can vary by handset. These are Fizz’s stated availability details, not an independent performance comparison. See Fizz’s 5G mobile plans page.
Your phone must be unlocked, compatible with Fizz, and VoLTE-certified on its network. Check the exact model using Fizz’s phone compatibility information before buying a device or porting your number.

Fizz’s current trial offer
Fizz’s mobile page currently advertises a 15-day trial with 3 GB of data, 100 texts, and 100 minutes. Treat those figures as a current advertised offer, not a permanent plan feature, and verify the eligibility and terms on the offer page before signing up.
How to decide whether Fizz fits
- Start with your address: Confirm you can subscribe and check service at the places where you use your phone most.
- Match coverage to your routine: Choose provincial, Canada-wide, or Canada-and-U.S. coverage based on where your included calls, texts, and data need to work.
- Assess partner-network dependence: Occasional extended coverage is different from relying on partner coverage most of the time.
- Verify your device: Confirm it is unlocked, compatible, and VoLTE-certified on Fizz.
- Compare like with like: Use the same data allowance and geographic coverage when comparing current prices, and account for taxes, promotions, and travel needs.
Fizz is most compelling for eligible customers whose everyday usage fits its network and chosen coverage, and who value prepaid flexibility. If your address is outside the subscription area, your usual locations depend heavily on partner coverage, or you need service in places not included in your plan, those constraints may outweigh the plan features.
