Ray-Ban Meta glasses are getting two different sets of software features: version 128 adds Spatial Audio and walking turn-by-turn navigation, while version 129 adds Mono Audio and left/right audio balance controls. As of October 5, 2026, the v128 navigation feature was broadly available through the Meta AI app; the v129 audio controls were still beginning to roll out.
What the v128 and v129 updates add
| Version | Reported additions | Rollout status on October 5, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| v128 | Spatial Audio, walking turn-by-turn navigation, and anti-tampering changes related to the camera privacy LED | Walking navigation was broadly available through the Meta AI app, according to 9to5Google’s October 5 report. |
| v129 | Mono Audio and left/right Audio Balance controls | These controls were beginning to roll out at the time of the report. |
Spatial Audio is a separate v128 feature; it is not another name for the v129 mono or balance controls. The report does not identify every eligible glasses generation or provide a complete list of supported regions, so check the Meta AI app and the settings on your own glasses rather than assuming a particular model or country is covered.
How to use walking turn-by-turn navigation
You can start walking directions with a voice request, such as “Hey Meta, navigate to Times Square.” Alternatively, share a destination from your phone’s mapping app and choose Meta AI. The glasses use the phone’s location for navigation. For a farther destination, the report says the phone receives a notification with driving directions.
This feature is walking navigation for Ray-Ban Meta glasses, not directions displayed in a lens. Meta Ray-Ban Display is a separate product with an in-lens display; Meta announced that it could show cycling directions and real-time public transit departures, initially starting later in September 2026 in the US and Canada. Meta also described Display walking prompts that refer to visible landmarks. Those visual directions should not be confused with the audio-focused walking navigation reported for Ray-Ban Meta glasses.

Where to find the new audio controls
For glasses that have received v129, open Device settings → Audio → Accessibility in the Meta AI app.
- Mono Audio combines the left and right audio channels so the same sound plays on both sides.
- Audio Balance shifts sound toward the left or right speaker.
The controls affect sounds from the glasses, including Meta AI responses and notifications. If you do not see them, v129 may not yet have reached your device.

Do you update the glasses or the app?
Check the Meta AI app and the glasses’ device settings: the reported features arrive through software updates, and the app is also where the new audio settings are located. The available report does not specify a complete model- or region-by-region compatibility list. It therefore cannot confirm that every Ray-Ban Meta generation or market will receive each feature.

The software report does not say that these features require either of Meta’s newly announced models. Meta’s September 2026 product announcement lists Ray-Ban Meta Audio as a camera-free audio-glasses line, with a stated weight of 43 grams, up to 12 hours of use on one charge and up to an additional 48 hours from its included charging case, a starting price of $349 USD, and a planned shipping date of October 13, 2026. These are Meta’s claims and plans, not independent test results. Those specifications describe the new Audio product, not the software requirements for v128 or v129.
