The Galaxy Z Fold8 is designed around two different screen formats: a 5.5-inch, 10:16 cover display for quick phone-style use and a 7.6-inch, 4:3 main display for reading, movies and gaming. Samsung also specifies a 4,800 mAh battery and claims up to 26 hours of video playback; that is a manufacturer maximum, not a promise of everyday battery life or an independently verified result.
Two screen shapes serve different kinds of use
Samsung’s entertainment pitch is less about one screen being best for everything and more about choosing a format to suit the phone’s posture. Closed, the Fold8’s 5.5-inch cover screen has a 10:16 ratio. Samsung positions it for messaging, browsing, social feeds and short-form video—tasks that work naturally on a phone-sized display. Samsung’s US product page and its Galaxy Z Fold8 usage guide describe these screen dimensions and intended uses.
Unfolded, the 7.6-inch main display uses a 4:3 ratio. Samsung recommends it for movies, e-books, reading and gaming, where a broader canvas can make content feel more immersive or leave more room to view a page. Whether that shape suits a particular video or app still depends on its format and how the app adapts; Samsung’s intended use cases do not mean every piece of content fills the screen in the same way.
Samsung specifies anti-reflection treatment and brightness of up to 3,000 nits for the main display. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Samsung’s product page

What the processor and multitasking features are intended to do
Samsung identifies the processor as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and says its CPU, GPU and NPU support performance, visuals and AI features. The company connects that hardware with streaming, gaming and smooth visuals, but the material available here does not establish independent performance results.
Split-screen use depends on app compatibility
Samsung describes Side-by-Side Multi Window as a way to use multiple apps on the large screen, but its feature notes limit support to select applications. Check whether the apps you rely on are compatible rather than assuming every app can be placed side by side. Samsung Mobile Press feature notes

Battery capacity and Samsung’s video-playback claim
Samsung lists a 4,800 mAh battery and says the Fold8 can provide up to 26 hours of video playback. The 26-hour figure is Samsung’s maximum claim, not a typical-use estimate. The official materials cited here do not provide a complete test protocol, and they do not establish independent real-world endurance results. Actual runtime can vary with use and settings. How the standard Fold8 compares with the Fold8 Ultra
Samsung’s listed specifications show the standard Fold8 is smaller, lighter and has less battery capacity than the Fold8 Ultra. Those figures help distinguish the models, but do not establish how long either phone lasts in everyday use.

| Model | Cover display | Main display | Weight | Battery capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Z Fold8 | 5.5 inches | 7.6 inches | 201 g | 4,800 mAh |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra | 6.5 inches | 8 inches | 215 g | 5,000 mAh |
Figures are Samsung specifications for the models listed on its US product page. The Fold8’s narrower cover screen may feel more like a conventional phone for quick interactions, while its 4:3 inner display prioritizes a wider reading and viewing area. Which format is preferable depends on how you use a foldable and the content you watch; the specifications alone do not make one the right choice for everyone.
