Publisher Lyrical Games says the first-person Soulslike will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. It is developed by One More Level, the studio behind the Ghostrunner series.
What is Valor Mortis?
Valor Mortis is a supernatural take on 19th-century Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. Players take the role of William Dowsett, a soldier of the Grande Armée who returns from the dead amid a spreading plague. The story brings Napoleon Bonaparte into the action through a voice William hears, alongside the Shrike, a rebel leader resisting the Empire in occupied Eastern Europe. Lyrical Games’ August 25 announcement and One More Level’s official Steam announcements describe the setting and premise.

How does its first-person Soulslike combat work?
One More Level describes combat built around swords, firearms and supernatural abilities, with stamina management, parries, high mobility and boss encounters. Exploration takes place in historically inspired environments. The developer also says dynamic field-of-view scaling is intended to make large bosses easier to read during fights. These are the studio’s descriptions of the game’s design, not independent hands-on findings.
When does Valor Mortis come out, and on which platforms?
The announced date is October 13, 2026. The publisher lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, and confirms Xbox Game Pass availability from launch day. One More Level repeated the date in its September 30 announcement. The sources do not establish cross-play, cross-progression or performance parity between platforms.

How much does Valor Mortis cost?
One More Level announced the following standard and Deluxe Edition prices on September 30, 2026. These are the developer’s stated prices in the listed currency notations; regional storefront prices may differ, so check the relevant store before buying.

Is there a physical edition?
One More Level says the physical-disc version is ready for printing, but the cited announcements do not specify platform-specific disc editions, retailer listings or stock. A PS5 launch is confirmed, but that alone does not establish that a PS5 disc edition is available to order. Check for a live listing for the exact platform and edition before purchasing.

One More Level cautions that its Steam demo does not represent the polished full release: it used bespoke chapter versions and lacked some later optimization, balancing and bug fixes. The studio also says General Lothaire appeared roughly 30 minutes into the demo, before players had much time to learn the combat; in the full game, the developer intends that boss to appear at the end of Chapter II, after more time with the mechanics and character leveling.

The developer characterized demo feedback as positive about first-person combat, parries, challenging bosses and the Napoleonic setting. It also reported that hundreds of thousands of players had tried the playtest and demo versions. Both the feedback description and player figure are developer-reported; they should not be read as independently verified survey results or an audited count.
