Yes. Instinct’s October 2026 group-chat launch lets friends participate even if they do not have Instinct accounts, according to TechCrunch’s launch report. The feature was rolling out to early-access users at the time; Instinct had not announced a date for general availability or named the messaging apps it supports.
How Instinct works in a group chat
Instinct says a new agent can join a group conversation and work for the whole group. The launch coverage describes the agent as helping participants explore options, agree on a plan and get it done in one thread. The report does not explain the invitation steps or identify which messaging platforms host these chats.
TechCrunch quoted Instinct founder Noah Shinn: “Making plans with friends usually turns into a frustrating back-and-forth over times and places. With Instinct in the group, you can explore options together, agree on a plan and get it done, all in one thread.”
Examples from the launch report
TechCrunch cited travel planning, finding event tickets, running fantasy leagues, organizing carpools and coordinating who brings what to Thanksgiving as possible group uses. These are examples from the launch coverage, not independently tested results.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What accountless participation means
The key distinction is that friends can participate in the group without having joined Instinct themselves. That does not establish how a person is invited, whether they need to install an app, or what information they can see. The launch report did not specify those mechanics or any participant limit.
Availability and supported platforms
At launch, the feature was rolling out to early-access users. TechCrunch said it would reach all users “soon,” but gave no calendar date. The report also did not name supported messaging apps, countries or regions, or pricing. Check Instinct’s official product page for current product information; its general description does not confirm that each listed assistant task is available in group chats.

What Instinct says about privacy and permission
TechCrunch attributed several safeguards to Shinn. The founder said a user’s personal agent asks permission before connecting with the group’s Instinct agent; users can select which groups they trust and revoke that trust; and the group agent is siloed from personal accounts and cannot access them. He also said the personal agent asks permission before sharing information or taking action. The report says pending personal-agent replies are held if a new member joins the group.
These are founder and company statements reported by TechCrunch, not an independent security audit or a full technical privacy specification. The launch coverage does not explain how permissions are presented, what data is retained, or how the safeguards are implemented.

Instinct’s personal assistant is broader than the group-chat announcement
Instinct’s official product page describes an assistant users can text or call and says it can use a phone and computer. Its examples include disputing an unwarranted bill, sending birthday gifts, ordering groceries, scheduling appointments and planning a weekend getaway. Those examples provide context about the wider product; the page does not establish that each task can be performed by the group agent.
