In a September 8, 2026 update, Reddit account Shot_Let_1344, which identifies itself as a project developer, said the code was 60% decompiled and 55% linked. The contributor estimated the team could reach roughly 90% in another year and publish its work at that point (project progress update). These are the contributor’s own progress figures and forecast, not independently audited measurements or a release announcement from the game’s publisher.
Why 2027 is not a confirmed release date
The developer’s estimate depends on the project continuing at its then-current rate. Reaching the stated 90% milestone is a target, not a guarantee that the work will be complete, polished, or ready for general use by a particular date. The developer also said cleanup and reconstruction work remained, including incomplete names. No confirmed day or month was given.

The evidence available here establishes no official EA/BioWare commercial release for 2027. That is a bounded finding, not proof that an announcement could never be made elsewhere or later.
What the fan project may change—and what it is not
The project developer described possible technical aims including 64-bit support, engine bug fixes, controller support, networking, and cooperative campaigns. These are ambitions or possibilities, not a confirmed feature list for a finished build.

The developer said the team would not distribute the original game’s assets or a compiled executable. Its stated plan is to publish reconstructed code for users to compile. EA’s PC manual documents the original game as an existing PC role-playing game. Since the project says it will not provide the original assets or a compiled executable, players should not assume that a future code release would include everything needed to play.

The project has not established which edition it will support, what files users would need, or what installation and compilation steps would be required. The existence of a Steam Community listing for Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition does not establish that this edition will be compatible. Wait for the project to publish specific requirements before buying or preparing a particular version for this purpose.
