Aion 2 is a free-to-play, PC-only game built around faction conflict, manual combat and three-dimensional exploration. Before starting, know that the current class roster has changed since its original reveal, the game offers more than one activity path, and progression and trading rules can vary by region and update.
1. Choose a faction and class based on how you want to play
Aion 2 centers on the conflict between the Elyos and Asmodians, which have separate starting regions. Your first practical choice is a class that fits the kind of combat you enjoy. NCSoft’s original 2025 overview introduced eight classes, but its July 2026 update added the Brawler, so older class lists are incomplete.
NCSoft’s descriptions offer broad role cues rather than a verified ranking of damage, difficulty or progression speed:
- Templar: the tank role.
- Cleric and Chanter: support roles.
- Other classes: cover close-range and ranged combat, magic damage and solo-oriented play.
Check the roster and class names in your regional client before committing. The available descriptions do not establish which class is strongest or easiest for a new player.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Give yourself time to learn movement and the camera
NCSoft describes Aion 2’s combat as manual and skill-based; Steam highlights aerial action and combat in three dimensions. That makes movement and camera control sensible early priorities, particularly when navigating vertically or fighting in the air. The available sources do not establish an optimal build, class, keybind setup or control device, so start with the default controls and adjust for comfort.
A gaming mouse for MMO keybinds is an optional PC setup choice, not a requirement established for the game. A standard mouse may be all you need to begin.

3. Explore upward, outward and underwater
The story takes place 200 years after the original AION. NCSoft describes a world built for flight across regions and underwater exploration, not just travel along ground-level routes. Its 2025 overview characterized the world as “over 36 times larger than the original game.” That is NCSoft’s comparison, not an independently measured world-size figure.
Follow your faction’s regions and look for ways to explore vertically as you progress. Treating the game only as a queue of dungeons would leave out a major part of the exploration the publisher describes.

4. Pick an activity lane, then sample the others
Aion 2 includes solo activities, group instances, competitive PvP and casual activities, according to NCSoft’s feature showcase. The official global site also describes five-player expeditions. These are distinct ways to spend your time, not evidence that one is mandatory or the best route for every player.
| Activity | What it offers | Good starting approach |
|---|---|---|
| Solo activities | Play without organizing a party. | Use them to get comfortable with your character and the world. |
| Group instances | Party-based encounters; the global site lists five-player expeditions. | Try them when you want coordinated play rather than assuming you must begin there. |
| Competitive PvP | Player-versus-player competition. | Explore it if competition appeals to you; the sources do not establish it as a progression requirement. |
| Casual activities | Non-competitive options listed by NCSoft. | Use them when you want a different pace from combat-focused play. |
5. Check your client’s notices for current progression and trade rules
Rules can change with updates and differ between regional services. NCSoft’s July 6, 2026 update for its serviced game raised the level cap to 50, added Brawler, and expanded party sizes for some dungeon categories. It also described a Sprout Badge program and optional shop packages. These are dated update details, not a guarantee that every regional client has the same rules now.

The same July update set a level requirement of 50 and item level of 3,500 for two new dungeons at the baseline difficulty it described. For players returning after a break, its Sprout Badge applied to eligible new players and to returning players with at least 28 inactive days who logged in on or after June 14, 2026; the badge could remain active for up to 30 days or until specified combat-power and item-level conditions were met. Check the notices in your own client for current eligibility and requirements.
For the global version, an Aion 2 Steam Community notice says direct player-to-player trade is disabled and the Market is the central trading hub. NCSoft’s August 2025 showcase had described exchanging items with in-game currency instead of premium currency, but that earlier statement does not fully describe current global monetization. Read current regional notices before making assumptions about trading or optional purchases.

Where and when you can play
The global PC version launched on October 5, 2026, and is free to play on Steam. The current English Steam listing says “PC only”; do not assume the global version has official mobile support. NCSoft’s earlier regional launch information also cites its PURPLE platform, but that does not change the Steam listing’s stated platform availability for the global version.
NCSoft’s global site lists launch celebration mounts for eligible accounts created by December 2, 2026 (JST), with a December 9 claim deadline. It says rewards are granted once per region and delivered through in-game mail. These are limited-time terms, so check the official site to confirm the offer and deadlines are still active.
