A solo developer says they are trying to turn Marvel’s Wolverine into an unofficial PC executable, using AI to help with scripting and asset conversion. Tom’s Hardware reported on October 5, 2026, that the project remained buggy, with missing textures, a missing character head, and freezes. It is an experiment—not a confirmed PC release—and the screenshots and claims have been disputed.
What the reported Wolverine PC project is—and isn’t
Tom’s Hardware identified the developer by the Reddit handle u/Clean-Market5761 and reported that they were attempting to create a PC executable for Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine. The effort is unofficial; the report does not describe a Sony- or Insomniac-announced PC port. The developer’s claims and the material shown have not been independently reproduced in the reporting, and some skeptics questioned whether the screenshots were genuine or came from an older leaked build. Tom’s Hardware’s October 5, 2026 report is the source for the project details.
How AI reportedly fits into the attempt
The developer reportedly used AI to assist with writing scripts and automating asset conversion, while handling trial and error manually. That is a description of this developer’s stated workflow, not evidence that AI can automatically convert a console game into a working PC release. The report does not establish exactly which files or tools were used.
What is reportedly broken
- Textures were missing, and the character appeared without a head asset.
- The build reportedly froze.
- The developer attributed the hair-rendering problem to missing PS5 shader support.
These are reported problems, not results from an independent test of a reproducible build. The project’s status may also change; the cited report does not establish that it is currently playable or stable.

How the reported project relates to the 2023 leak
Tom’s Hardware linked the attempt to data exposed in the 2023 ransomware attack on Sony and Insomniac, which it reported involved 1.7 TB of data, including an early version of Wolverine. The article says leaked source code helped the developer understand how to generate a PC executable. However, it does not independently verify which leaked materials the developer actually used, so that connection should be understood as reported provenance rather than a confirmed account of the build’s contents.
This is not PS5 emulation
The reported effort to create a PC executable is different from running the PS5 game through an emulator. A separate Tom’s Hardware report published September 30, 2026 described KytyPS5 emulator gameplay at single-digit frame rates and characterized it as an early compatibility milestone. That report does not establish a practical way to play Wolverine on PC. The developer behind the executable attempt reportedly said they did not use KytyPS5 or AnyPS5.

What players can rely on
The direct official route described in the reporting is the PS5 edition of Marvel’s Wolverine; the unofficial PC experiment is not a substitute for an announced PC release. The cited coverage does not verify current retail availability, nor does it establish a stable, independently reproduced PC build. Buying more powerful PC hardware is not shown to resolve the emulator’s compatibility limits.
