There is no established all-around winner between the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro. In Gizmochina’s October 2026 comparison, results split by workload: the Snapdragon test phone led in Geekbench 7 single-core and overall AnTuTu, while the Dimensity phone led in Geekbench 7 multi-core and AnTuTu’s GPU sub-score. Those are results from two named phones, not a controlled chip-only test. Separate Geekbench 6 figures reported by Beebom are explicitly leaked or claimed and unverified.
Benchmark results: what the published comparisons show
The most useful reported head-to-head results come from Gizmochina’s October 6, 2026 comparison. It tested a Xiaomi 18 Pro Max for the Snapdragon and a Vivo X500 Pro Max for the Dimensity, so the scores reflect those phones and their test conditions as well as their processors.
| Benchmark | Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 | Dimensity 9600 Pro | Reported lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 7 single-core | 3,163, Xiaomi 18 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | 2,600, Vivo X500 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | Snapdragon |
| Geekbench 7 multi-core | 10,172, Xiaomi 18 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | 10,634, Vivo X500 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | Dimensity |
| AnTuTu total | 4,592,331, Xiaomi 18 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | 4,324,196, Vivo X500 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | Snapdragon |
| AnTuTu GPU sub-score | 1,762,900, Xiaomi 18 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | 1,858,369, Vivo X500 Pro Max; Gizmochina (2026) | Dimensity |
These results do not establish that one chip will always be faster. Phone cooling, firmware, power settings, benchmark version, and whether a test captures a short peak or sustained load can change outcomes. Gizmochina’s results are phone-level measurements; the available comparison does not establish a controlled, independently replicated test of both chips in equivalent devices.
Separate Geekbench 6 figures are not confirmed measurements
Beebom (2026) lists Geekbench 6 single-core/multi-core figures of 4,327/12,873 for Snapdragon and 4,276/12,650 for Dimensity. It labels the Snapdragon values leaked and the Dimensity values claimed, and says the scores are unverified pending its own testing. Treat them as reported claims, not as confirmed head-to-head benchmark results. Geekbench 6 scores should not be combined with the Geekbench 7 results above.

Reported CPU and GPU specifications
Gizmochina and Beebom describe different CPU layouts. These are specifications reported by comparison coverage, not details verified here against current manufacturer product briefs.
| Processor | CPU layout reported by comparison sources | Graphics reported by comparison sources |
|---|---|---|
| Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 | Eight cores: two up to 5.0 GHz and six up to 4.0 GHz | Adreno 850, with AI-related GPU features described by the sources |
| Dimensity 9600 Pro | Eight cores: two C2-Ultra up to 4.55 GHz, three C2-Pro up to 4.35 GHz, and three C2-Pro up to 3.1 GHz | Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX |
Clock speeds and graphics names alone cannot determine real-world speed. A phone maker’s cooling design, firmware, and power limits affect how much performance a device can sustain. Comparison sources also describe differences in AI processing, camera and video pipelines, memory and storage support, and connectivity, but those feature lists should be checked against the exact phone and its regional configuration before purchase. A platform capability does not guarantee that every handset implements it in the same way.

How to use these scores when choosing a phone
Start with the exact retail device, not the processor name in isolation. Even if two phones use the same chip, their cooling and power behavior may differ; across brands, software and regional variants add further variables. Android Central notes that thermal behavior for the new Snapdragon generation still needs to be observed, so short benchmark peaks should not be treated as proof of sustained gaming or heavy-workload performance.
- For short, lightly threaded tasks: the reported Geekbench 7 single-core result favors the Snapdragon test phone, but it is not a universal prediction for every handset using that chip.
- For multi-core workloads: Gizmochina’s Geekbench 7 result favors the Dimensity test phone. The difference is specific to the tested devices and conditions.
- For graphics: the Dimensity phone had the higher reported AnTuTu GPU sub-score, while the Snapdragon phone had the higher total AnTuTu score. Neither figure by itself settles game performance; sustained tests in the exact handset are more informative.
- For longer sessions: look for testing that reports temperatures, performance over time, battery drain, and the phone’s selected power mode—not just a single benchmark run.
- For ownership value: compare the exact regional model’s software-support policy, battery behavior, price, and availability alongside performance.
For a meaningful comparison, check that benchmark versions match, identify the exact phone and regional processor variant, and note firmware, cooling, and power mode. A leaked or claimed result should remain labeled as such; it should not be presented beside device-tested figures as though both have equal evidentiary weight.

Which processor should you choose?
The reported results favor different chips for different measures: Snapdragon leads Gizmochina’s Geekbench 7 single-core and AnTuTu total, while Dimensity leads its Geekbench 7 multi-core and AnTuTu GPU sub-score. That split is more useful than a blanket ranking. Choose between actual phones after comparing sustained thermal performance, battery behavior, software support, regional specifications, and price; the available scores do not justify declaring a universal chip winner.
