Google’s October 2026 Android 17 update lists three targeted fixes for Pixel devices: one for a keyboard that sometimes fails to appear, one for ringtone distortion during some VoIP calls, and one for photos or videos saved in the wrong orientation. The fixes cover different Pixel models, so check your device against the applicability list below. Google says supported devices will receive the October 5, 2026 Pixel security patch level, but the over-the-air rollout may not reach every device at the same time.
Which Pixel models are included?
9to5Google reported on October 6, 2026, that the update was rolling out to the following models. This is a reported rollout list, not a guarantee that the update is already available on every device or carrier.
- Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a
- Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a
- Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold
- Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a
- Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a

What do the three fixes address?
The fixes are limited to specific symptoms and model ranges; they do not mean every device in a listed range experienced the issue.
Virtual keyboard not appearing in some search fields
Google’s changelog, as quoted by 9to5Google, lists a fix for an issue that occasionally prevented the virtual keyboard from appearing when interacting with search input fields. It applies to Pixel 8 and the listed newer models through the Pixel 11 family.

Ringtone noise or distortion during some VoIP calls
A second fix addresses occasional audio noise or distortion in the ringtone during certain VoIP calls. The reported device key applies it to Pixel 8 through Pixel 10a models; it does not list the Pixel 11 family for this fix.
Photos or videos saved in the wrong orientation
The third fix addresses occasional cases where captured photos or recorded videos were saved in the incorrect orientation. In the reported device key, this fix applies to the Pixel 11 family.

How to check for the update on your Pixel
- Open Settings on your Pixel.
- Tap System, then Software updates.
- Tap System update and follow the on-screen instructions if an update is offered.
- After installation, return to the update screen or open Settings > About phone and check the displayed build number and Android security update date.
Availability can vary by model and carrier. If the update is not offered yet, check again later rather than installing a package intended for a different Pixel model or carrier.

The report also lists SoftBank Pixel 11 builds ending in .B1. Do not use a build family by itself to select or install an update package; match the phone’s model and carrier.
Google’s Pixel Update Bulletin says supported Google devices will receive security patch level 2026-10-05. The separate Android Security Bulletin says patch level 2026-10-01 or later addresses its listed Android issues. These dates refer to different bulletin scopes and should not be treated as interchangeable. Google’s Android bulletin, published October 5, 2026, describes its most severe listed issue as a critical System vulnerability that could allow local privilege escalation without additional execution privileges or user interaction.

9to5Google reports 28 Android security issues and six additional Google-device security fixes. Those are the report’s separate counts; the official Android bulletin provides issue-by-issue CVEs and severities, so the two counts should not be combined into a single total.
