Neither Elyos nor Asmodians is an evidence-based “best” choice in Aion 2. Pick the faction that suits your preferred setting—or, especially if you plan to play with friends, the faction and server your group can join together. For global launch, NCSOFT’s stated selection order is region, faction, then server; each server houses only one faction, and paired servers meet in some cross-faction PvP modes.
Which faction is best in Aion 2?
There is no supported universal winner. NCSOFT’s official announcements reviewed here do not establish that either faction has higher population, better stats, stronger combat performance, faster progression, or an overall advantage. Treat claims that one side is objectively stronger or more populated as unverified unless current, region- and server-specific evidence backs them.
The practical decision is about your group, the faction’s setting, and the PvP rules you care about—not a documented power ranking.
Should I choose Elyos or Asmodians?
Choose around your friends first
If you want to play together, coordinate your faction and server before creating characters. NCSOFT’s October 5, 2026 global-launch notice says players choose a region, then a faction, then a server from those available, and that each server houses only one faction. Check the current official server and matchmaking notice when you make your choice, since server listings can change.

Choose the setting you prefer
The factions start in separate regions. NCSOFT identifies Eltnen as Elyos territory and Morheim as Asmodian territory in its June 2026 roadmap announcement. That gives the factions distinct starting settings and journeys; the announcement does not say either territory grants a lasting combat or progression benefit.
Choose with the PvP mode in mind
Elyos and Asmodians meet in cross-faction spaces such as the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts. NCSOFT says an Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian counterpart for a limited time, and opponents in those cross-faction modes come from the matched server. The global-launch matchmaking notice is the place to check the applicable pairing.

Does faction affect class or stats?
The official material cited here does not establish current faction-specific stat advantages or confirm complete class availability parity between factions. NCSOFT’s June 4, 2025 overview listed eight classes at that time: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Marksman, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, and Chanter. That dated list is not a guarantee of the current roster or proof that every class is available to both factions now. Check a current official class and character-creation guide before choosing if a particular class is essential to your decision.
Likewise, the sources do not establish that faction changes are currently possible or describe any transfer restrictions. Do not assume you can switch later; verify the current official rules before committing if flexibility matters to you.

Can Elyos and Asmodians play together?
They can meet as opponents in designated cross-faction PvP modes, but the official notices do not establish that characters from opposite factions can form a cooperative party or share a server. Since each server houses one faction, friends planning to play together should select the same faction and a compatible server rather than assume cross-faction matchmaking enables co-op.
Not every PvP battle is faction versus faction
NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 description says Chaotic Abyss divides players into West and East forces at server level regardless of race alignment, while Spacetime Rift continues to use race-based matchmaking. So “Elyos versus Asmodians” describes some encounters, not every PvP mode. See the Chaotic Abyss and class-overhaul announcement for those stated rules; check newer patch notes for changes.

A quick decision checklist
- Playing with friends: agree on a faction, then use the current official server notice to choose a compatible server.
- Choosing for atmosphere: pick Elyos or Asmodians based on the faction identity and starting territory that appeal to you; no lasting mechanical edge is established in the cited announcements.
- Choosing for PvP: check the rules for the specific mode. Spacetime Rift is described as race-based, while Chaotic Abyss uses server-level West/East forces in NCSOFT’s March 2026 account.
- Choosing for population or power: the official sources cited here provide no current population figures or faction power comparison, so they cannot support a recommendation on those grounds.

| Population, power, class access | The cited official announcements do not provide a current faction population or power comparison. | A current population winner, faction-specific stat edge, or complete current class parity. |
