John M. Wilson, who spent six years leading global data-center design and construction at Google, has joined Anthropic as a member of technical staff leading EMEA capacity delivery, according to an October 5, 2026 report from Data Center Dynamics. The appointment puts an experienced infrastructure-delivery executive in charge of a regional capacity remit; Anthropic has not publicly stated what specific projects he will oversee.
What is Wilson’s role at Anthropic?
Data Center Dynamics reports that Wilson joined Anthropic as a member of technical staff and will lead EMEA capacity delivery. That describes his remit as regional delivery of capacity; the report does not specify individual sites, a start date, or a broader global leadership role.
The appointment is reported by Data Center Dynamics, which links Wilson’s remarks to LinkedIn. No independent confirmation of his role beyond that report is established here.
What experience does he bring?
Before Anthropic, Wilson spent six years at Google as its head of global data-center design and construction. Data Center Dynamics says his Google work also covered delivery of data-center and subsea infrastructure. Before Google, he was Amazon’s European head of design and construction.

Earlier in his career, he served as chief of staff at the British Army and as director of infrastructure at NATO, according to the report. Taken together, the reported roles span commercial construction delivery and public-sector and military infrastructure. They do not establish why Anthropic hired him.
What did Wilson say about the move?
Data Center Dynamics attributes the following statement to Wilson on LinkedIn: “Leading global infrastructure delivery across data centers and subsea programs taught me two enduring truths. Scale is humbling, but high-trust teams make the extraordinary feel routine. Clear intent, rigorous operational control, and calm execution will always beat complexity.”
On joining Anthropic, he added: “The stakes and scale have never been higher, and I’m eager to get stuck in.”

Wilson’s appointment is part of broader infrastructure recruiting reported by Data Center Dynamics on October 5, 2026. The outlet described several former Google employees in Anthropic infrastructure roles, including Winnie Leung as head of data-center infrastructure, Liwen Mao as data-center design lead, and Adam Johnson as data-center electrical lead. It also reported hiring across construction, operations, security, energy, capacity delivery, and compute finance. These roles are a snapshot from that report, not a complete or necessarily current organizational chart.
Separately, Anthropic announced on November 12, 2025 that it planned to invest $50 billion in American computing infrastructure. The company said it would develop data centers with Fluidstack in Texas and New York, with more sites to follow, and projected sites would come online throughout 2026. Anthropic estimated the project would create approximately 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs. Those figures and the schedule were company estimates and plans, not independently audited outcomes.
The US announcement provides context for Anthropic’s infrastructure expansion, but it does not identify Wilson’s EMEA remit with those American sites or show how his appointment will affect project delivery.
